ABOUT ADDICTION RECOVERY SYSTEMS β PANTOPS CLINIC METHADONE & SUBOXONE TREATMENT CENTER

Founded in 2004, Addiction Recovery Systems (ARS) now runs eight outpatient addiction treatment facilities in the Mid-Atlantic region. The Charlottesville facility, located in a quiet area just east of the small city, offers assessments and outpatient treatment, including medication-assisted outpatient programs using Suboxone and methadone.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Treatment begins with a free, confidential initial screening. New clients can generally be admitted within 24 to 48 hours of contacting the center.

ARS believes in the philosophy of harm reduction, which holds that while abstinence is ideal, itβs rare that anyone achieves abstinence overnight, and as such itβs desirable to instead reduce the harm associated with the addiction by providing stable dosages of substitute drugs. The center offers both short- and long-term Suboxone and methadone programs, as well as outpatient individual, group, and family counseling, and case management services.

At the beginning of treatment, clients must attend daily to get their medication, though the frequency of visits falls over time. Intensive outpatient (IOP) requires three to four days of programming while general outpatient requires sessions just once per week. Medication-assisted treatment is offered early in the day: medication hours are Monday through Friday 5.30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and then again from 5:30 p.m. to 2 p.m., and Saturday, 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

According to ARSβs website, staff includes physicians, nurse practitioners, licensed counselors, clinical social workers, registered nurses, and certified drug and alcohol counselors.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

At the time of this writing, Rehabs.com has yet to receive feedback for this facility from alumni, but secondary review coverage was mostly positive. On the center's Facebook page, there are two ratings for five out of five stars as well as one for just one star, but no commentary.[1] On Google, five ratings averaged 4.2 out of five stars to date.[2] Adam, the single reviewer to leave commentary, gave one star and wrote: "Your sobriety is not important to these people... The nursing side is very disconnected from the mental and emotional well-being side."

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The single loved one polled by Rehabs.com to date would not recommend treatment at this facility. βMy loved one was around people 20 years younger and it made him worse. He hated every second of it,β they wrote anonymously, giving the center just two stars for its overall effectiveness, its family program, its treatment for co-occurring disorders, and its counseling options.

FINANCING

The center accepts cash, major credit cards, and money orders. Aetna and Anthem insurance are also accepted, according to the facility's website, and as of this writing, Virginia Medicaid will be accepted soon.

[1] https://www.facebook.com/pages/ARS-Pantops-Clinic/134660379916300
[2] https://goo.gl/ft8Qfz
