<p><strong>ABOUT RUTLAND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES</strong></p> <p>Rutland Mental Health Services (RMHS) provides <strong>outpatient treatment</strong> to clients at all stages of life who are struggling with mental health problems and/or substance use disorder. Located in the mountainous town of Rutland, Vermont, the facility also offers case management services, vocational and housing assistance, and groups for clients with <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/" target="_blank">co-occurring disorders</a>, along with specialized programs for women, teens, and the elderly. RMHS is <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/VT16.pdf" target="_blank">one of just nine</a> substance abuse treatment facilities in Vermont (nearly 20 percent of all facilities in the state) to offer specialized programing for seniors.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>Clients are set up with an <strong>individual care plan (ICP)</strong> based on a <strong>comprehensive assessment</strong>. This plan details the best courses for treatment and is updated at least once each year. </p> <p>Treatment at RHMS is <a href="https://www.recovery.org/topics/find-a-top-holistic-rehab-center/" target="_blank">holistic</a> and utilizes <strong>individual, group</strong>, and <strong>family therapies</strong>, and offers skills training, <strong>medication management</strong>, and crisis planning. Supportive counseling and other <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/extended-recovery-programs/" target="_blank">aftercare options</a> are available for continued support. </p> <p>Specifically for adults, therapies are aimed at helping clients attain their goals and access community resources for better living. Clients also receive <strong>psychiatric evaluations</strong>. According to the facility’s website, eldercare is available, along with <strong>24/7 emergency services</strong>.</p> <p>Clients struggling with a substance abuse disorder may participate in Quitting Time, which is an <strong>intensive outpatient program (IOP)</strong> consisting of therapy, <a href="https://www.recovery.org/pro/articles/sad-lets-talk-about-seasonal-affective-disorder-and-relapse/" target="_blank">relapse prevention</a>, and a focus on the <a href="https://www.recovery.org/pro/articles/how-a-non-religious-journalist-makes-a-case-for-aa-in-2017/" target="_blank">12-step model</a> for abstinence. Participants go to 20 three-hour sessions over the span of five weeks. </p> <p>The Rocking Horse Program is designed specifically for <strong>women of all ages, including those pregnant or with children</strong>, who are either struggling themselves or living with someone struggling with addiction. RMHS also offers <a href="https://www.recovery.org/pro/articles/why-do-people-drink-and-drive-the-answers-are-pretty-jarring/" target="_blank">DUI courses</a> and treatment court which focuses on coordinating legal services, as well as a program for men and women transitioning out of incarceration.</p> <p>Additionally, RMHS offers <a href="https://www.recovery.org/pro/articles/how-addiction-can-interfere-with-your-job-performance/" target="_blank">employment services</a> and housing assistance for long- and short-term residencies.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>RMHS employs a team of 431 staff members who are assisted by volunteers and contracted healthcare providers. Julie, the one reviewer to leave commentary, wrote: "Wonderful professional organization!!"</p> <p><strong>WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY</strong></p> <p>The one anonymous loved one polled by Rehabs.com to date, an anonymous 26 to 39-year old male, gave RHMS a mostly positive review, indicating that staff was helpful but the rules seemed strict. He awarded the facility five out of five stars for its treatment effectiveness, its family participation, and its staff’s level of training and experience, and three out of five stars for its connectivity, its counseling options, and counselors’ ability to treat co-occurring disorders.</p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>According to <a href="http://citehealth.com/rehab-centers/vermont/cities/rutland-city-in-rutland-county/rutland-mental-health-services" target="_blank">CiteHealth</a>, RHMS accepts <strong>Medicaid</strong>, as well as both state-financed and private insurance.
