<p><strong>ABOUT METHODIST RICHARDSON MEDICAL CENTER – BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND ADDICTION RECOVERY</strong></p> <p>Methodist Richardson Medical Center is a hospital located in Richardson, Texas, that offers <strong>a full continuum of behavioral health and addiction recovery treatment to adults</strong> struggling with substance misuse, <a href="https://www.recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/" target="_blank">co-occurring mental health issues</a>, or other psychiatric concerns. Treatment options include <strong>inpatient, outpatient, <a href="https://www.recovery.org/forums/categories/iop-outpatient-alcohol-treatment" target="_blank">intensive outpatient (IOP)</a>, and <a href="https://www.recovery.org/topics/partial-hospitalization-day-treatment/" target="_blank">partial day hospitalization (PHP)</strong></a> programs. Additional services include family, group and individual therapy, activities therapy, relapse prevention, discharge planning, individual case management, and <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/extended-recovery-programs/" target="_blank">aftercare</a> support groups.</p> <p>After completion of the inpatient program, some clients may choose to step-down into a <strong>PHP or IOP level of care</strong> for ongoing support. According to a <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/TX17.pdf" target="_blank">2017 SAMHSA survey</a>, 15.1 percent of treatment facilities in Texas offer PHP or day treatment and 53.8 offer IOP.</p> <p>Chemical Dependency IOP meets for three hours in the evening, three nights per week. The program consists of <strong>structured group counseling and skills training</strong> along with weekly sessions that include family, significant others, and/or supportive friends. Following completion of IOP, clients are eligible to attend ongoing Saturday <strong>aftercare groups</strong> and 12-step meetings on-site</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>According to Methodist Richardson's website, the treatment team includes physicians, psychologists, nurses, counselors, case managers, and more. </p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>The inpatient facility consists of <strong>30 beds</strong>, which is comparable to the average of 28 beds at inpatient hospital <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/TX17.pdf" target="_blank">treatment facilities in Texas</a>. The sole loved one polled by Rehabs.com to date gave the facility four out of five stars for its overall cleanliness and upkeep.</p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong> </p> <p>Though Rehabs.com has yet to receive any feedback from alumni, Methodist Richardson Medical Center has received <strong>mixed reviews on third-party sites</strong>. On the facility’s Google page, there is an overall rating of three out of five stars based on over 200 total reviews.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small> Though most of the reviews were for the facility’s other medical services, the few alumni that reviewed behavioral health or addiction recovery programs had very <strong>negative impressions</strong>. </p> <p>In a representative one-star review, alum Kate wrote, "The behavioral health and addiction recover unit here is a joke...The staff is inept, not aware of protocol, can't answer basic questions, provide different answers each time, transfer you to the wrong people."</p> <p>On Methodist Richardson's official Facebook page, which staff can manage, nearly 600 people contributed to an average rating of 4.1 out of five stars.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-2"><sup>[2]</sup></a></small> However, like on Google, most reviews were for the facility's other medical services and not for any of the behavioral health or addiction recovery programs.</p> <p><strong>WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY</strong></p> <p>At the time of this writing, the one loved one polled by Rehabs.com had a mostly positive impression of the facility. The anonymous reviewer gave four stars to most metrics evaluated, including the facility's family participation, treatment for co-occurring disorders, and the experience of the staff. Overall, the individual indicated that they would recommend this facility to others.</p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>Though the cost of treatment is not published on Methodist Richardson's website, the website indicates that it <strong>accepts most insurance plans</strong> including Aetna, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana, UnitedHealthCare, and various Medicaid and Medicare managed care and traditional plans.
