ABOUT JUDGE JOHN C. CREUZOT JUDICIAL RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT CENTER

The Judge John C. Creuzot Judicial Residential Treatment Center (JJCCRTC) is a publicly run inpatient program dedicated to assisting men and women who are seeking to overcome a substance use (SUD) disorders and reintegrate into their respective communities. The program is based out of Lancaster, Texas, just 15 miles south of Dallas.

One of just 94 (21.8 percent) residential treatment facilities in the state of Texas, the JJCCRTC is also host to a specialized track for women waiting entry into another Dallas County program. Both programs are run by the Dallas County Community Supervision and Corrections Department (CSCD), based in Wilmer, Texas.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The JJCCRTC is an inpatient treatment program serving men and women aspiring towards community reintegration. Prospective clients must have a “felony only” with a diagnosed drug dependency, have no title V offenses, and be court-ordered to attend treatment. According to the Dallas County website, the JJCCRTC also houses the Pre-DDC track for women waiting to enter the Dual Diagnosis Center (DDC).

For more information on the admissions process, the facility encourages prospective clients to contact the Dallas County CSCD.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its treatments staff.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

While the inpatient facility provides few details regarding its living arrangements and related offerings, the Dual Diagnosis Center (DDC) can accommodate as many as 60 individuals (30 men, 30 women) struggling with co-occurring mental health disorders.

In addition, the single Rehabs.com survey respondent polled on the matter to date gave only one out of five stars for the accommodations and meals.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

In the single Rehabs.com survey response amongst alumni as of this writing, an anonymous alum left just one out of five stars in indicating how likely they’d recommend the JJCCJRTC. They also left just one star for most other areas, such as the treatment effectiveness, holistic opportunities, and counseling options. Though they did leave five stars for the application of the 12-steps, the anonymous alum felt that it was “all about money.”

In addition, while the 13 individuals who shared their experience at the JJCCRTC on Google to date left a mediocre rating of 2.5 out of five stars, many expressed appreciation and satisfaction with their program. “The best mistake that I ever made in my life," J.J. wrote in one such statement. Less positive, one review commented on the poor state of the facility while another wrote: "They don't actually encourage the clients to return home.”[1]

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The child of a former client described the program as “awful” telling Rehabs.com: “my mom was miserable the whole time she was there." However, they did leave three out of five stars for the treatment of
of co-occurring disorders, holistic offerings, the staff's level of training and experience, the family participation, and the cost worthiness.

FINANCING

The JJCCRTC is run by the Dallas County CSCD, making it just one of 230 (53.4 percent) facilities in the state that receive public funding.

[1] GoogleReviews
