ABOUT PATHWAY TO RECOVERY

Pathway to Recovery, a Texas-based drug and alcohol rehab, provides gender-specific treatment through three separate facilities. The Le Marque facility, located on a three-acre campus about 40 miles outside of Houston, is exclusively for men. It offers residential and outpatient programs, as well as aftercare. All prospective clients undergo a basic assessment and a clinical diagnostic evaluation, the latter of which is designed to assess co-occurring disorders and determine the most appropriate level of care.

In addition to the residential program, Pathway to Recovery offers various levels of outpatient care, including an intensive outpatient program (IOP) and a supportive outpatient (SOP) program. The facility also has a partial hospitalization program (PHP), which provides the most intensive level of care, and is one of 65 (15 percent) of all treatment facilities in Texas.

Treatment is based on the 12 Steps and clients attend Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings daily. Counselors, trained in evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), conduct therapy in both individual and group settings. Process groups help clients dealing with anger management, denial, grief and loss, and other common challenges.

Clients may also receive employment counseling and/or training, a service offered by 38 percent of treatment facilities in the state. Family members are encouraged to take an active role in their loved onesβ recovery by attending educational programming held on-site.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Treatment is administered by a medical director, social workers, and chemical dependency counselors. An outdoor patio provides a natural environment for therapeutic activities and group discussions.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The two alumni polled by Rehabs.com to date gave Pathway to Recovery's men's program mostly positive feedback. Phillip was the most enthusiastic of the two, awarding the facility four or five out of five stars for its counseling options, its 12-step programming, its treatment of co-occurring disorders, and its staff level of training and experience. "The staff at Pathway to Recovery loved me until I could love myself. I owe them my life," he wrote.

The other alum, who participated anonymously, gave Pathway to Recovery four out of five stars for its cleanliness, its affordability, and its administrative and discharge procedures, but just two stars for its counseling options, its treatment of co-occurring disorders, and its exercise and leisure activities. Overall, though, the reviewer felt the experience was a good one. "It promotes altruism and let you know that not everyone is just looking out for themselves,," he wrote.

The men's program fared well with alumni on secondary sites, earning an average rating of 3.7 out of five stars based on six Google reviews[1] and a perfect five star rating based on the opinions of 22 individuals on Facebook[2].
