<p><strong>ABOUT HOUSTON RECOVERY CENTER</strong></p> <p>Formed by the city of Houston in 2013, the Houston Recovery Center is an organization that offers services to <strong>divert individuals under the influence of drugs and alcohol from jail</strong>. Long-term case management is also offered.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>To help stop the revolving door between substance misuse and incarceration, Houston Recovery Center provides inebriated individuals an <strong>alternative to jail</strong> via its Sobering Center. The typical amount of time spent at the center is between <strong>four and six hours</strong>, and individuals are <strong>closely supervised to ensure safety while intoxicated.</strong> Although individuals are typically brought in by law enforcement, clients may also walk into the facility to sober up and/or utilize its intervention program.</p> <p>Houston Recovery Center offers an <strong>18-month recovery support case management program</strong>, which serves as an entry point to long-term recovery by providing ongoing case management on an outpatient basis. Known as recovery coaches, case managers provide individuals with relevant resources, including <strong>referrals to detoxification centers, community-based self-help groups</strong>, and <strong>transitional housing.</strong></p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>The treatment team includes <strong>licensed chemical dependency counselors</strong> and recovery coaches/case managers.</p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>The Sobering Center is comprised of two separate, <strong>gender-specific rooms</strong>, with <strong>16 beds for women</strong> and <strong>68 beds for men</strong>. Operating 24 hours, the center provides clients with water, hydrating sports drinks, and crackers upon request.</p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>The one alum surveyed by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave the facility a mostly positive review, offering four or five out of five stars for its treatment effectiveness, its administrative and discharge procedures, and its staff’s level of training and experience. When asked, on a scale from one to five, if they would recommend the facility, the alum gave a rating of four. The alum’s only complaint was that areas of the Center were not cleaned regularly.</p> <p>On Google, Houston Recovery Center received an <strong>average rating of 4.5 out of five stars based on 16 reviews</strong>.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small> "I want to thank the city mayor for opening up such a place and giving a chance to those who really out to have a good time which goes a little to far sometimes....and instead of ending up in jail. ... can actually sober up in a nice clean facility. The officers where all nice to. And I'm so glad I didn't end up in a city jail," wrote Veronica in a representative review.</p> <p><strong>WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY</strong></p> <p>Reviews from friends and family were <strong>mostly positive.</strong> The five loved ones surveyed by Rehabs.com to date on the following five metrics gave the facility average ratings of 4.4 out of five stars for its cleanliness, its affordability, and its counseling options, and four stars for its connectivity and visitor policies, and its staff’s level of training and experience. One loved one specifically noted the Center’s interaction with family as one of its strengths, and <strong>all five told Rehabs.com that the service was good</strong>. Complaints were minor and included the need for more security and aftercare options.</p> <p><strong>WHAT STAFF SAY</strong></p> <p>The one staff member polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave Houston Recovery Center a lukewarm review. While they awarded the facility four and five out of five stars for its treatment effectiveness and its cleanliness, they gave the Center lower ratings of one or two stars for its staff’s level of training and experience, its administrative and discharge procedures, its counseling options, and its connectivity and visitor policies. “Food was good. The staff was not the best. Ask questions before u go in,” the reviewer cautioned.</p> <p>A staffer named Rachel took to Google to praise her place of employment, giving Houston Recovery Center a five-star review and writing: "I love working here. My co workers are amazing."</p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>Houston Recovery Center is funded by the city of Houston and private donations.
