<p><strong>ABOUT THE BRAZOS VALLEY COUNCIL ON ALCOHOL AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE (BVCASA)</strong></p> <p>Located about 90 minutes northwest of Houston, The Brazos Valley Council on Alcohol and Substance Abuse (BVCASA) is a <strong>nonprofit treatment center</strong>, which make up about <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/TX16.pdf" target="_blank">46 percent of all treatment facilities in Texas.</a> The center provides treatment to adults and teens who are struggling with substance abuse. And once a week for a month, teens partake in <strong>at-home therapy</strong>.</p> <p>The eight-week long <strong>Adult Outpatient Treatment (TRA)</strong> program employs the highly acclaimed <a href="https://www.drugabuse.gov/publications/principles-drug-addiction-treatment-research-based-guide-third-edition/evidence-based-approaches-to-drug-addiction-treatment/behavioral-3" target="_blank">Matrix Model</a>, an evidence-based intensive outpatient modality. For three hours a night, Monday through Thursday, adults attend <strong>12-step meetings</strong>, process groups, and psychoeducational sessions that center around relapse prevention, recovery skills, and various health issues. The TRA also provides <strong>gender-specific programming</strong> for women who are either pregnant, have children in foster care, or have children who are minors.</p> <p>The <strong>Transitional Treatment Center</strong> is a residential treatment program designed for non-violent adults in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ). In a structured and supportive environment, <strong>residents learn recovery principles and cultivate a balanced lifestyle</strong> for six to nine months.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>The Brazos Valley Council on Alcohol and Substance Abuse's website notes the center employs licensed chemical dependency counselors, program directors and managers, and other administrative staff. Those without insurance or Medicaid may qualify to have their treatment covered by state grants.
