<p><strong>ABOUT AUSTIN OAKS HOSPITAL</strong></p> <p>Austin Oaks Hospital, located in the eponymous city Austin, Texas, is a <strong>residential and outpatient facility</strong>, one of <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/TX16.pdf" target="_blank">126 residential facilities</a> and one of <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/TX16.pdf" target="_blank">407 outpatient facilities</a> in the state. The center <strong>treats children, adolescents, and adults</strong> struggling with the full spectrum of mental health disorders, particularly those who are struggling with substance abuse. </p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>Upon entry, patients take a 30 to 60-minute assessment, which allows the staff to determine the best course of treatment between the residential and outpatient programming. The center is </p> <p>Austin Oaks offers inpatient programming for adults age 18 and older who are experiencing moderate to severe psychiatric and behavioral problems. The <strong>program includes rapid stabilization, evidence supported Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)</strong>, medication evaluation and management, individual and group therapies, family therapy, medication management and education.</p> <p>The adult Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) setting that enables clients who need psychiatric care and a structured therapeutic environment with services comparable to inpatient treatment while allowing clients to return to the comfort of their home surroundings in the evening. Adolescent PHP is dedicated to helping patients overcome symptoms through family involvement which helps them develop and foster healthy community relationships. The program is available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. As the child shows improvement they will step down to the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) which includes three groups a day and focuses on implementing concepts and skills learned in PHP while transitioning to a community therapist.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>Austin Oaks Hospital has a clinical staff involving psychiatrists, medical doctors, and nurses. The facility is also accredited by The Joint Commission.</p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>Austin Oaks has 80 beds on a 13-acre oak tree-lined campus, which also includes a 6,000-square-foot outpatient services building. Photos show a modern facility surrounded by trees and greenery. Bedrooms appear functional and show two beds per room.</p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>To date, no alumni have submitted reviews to Rehabs.com.</p> <p>On Google, 62 reviewers gave a less than favorable rating of 2.2 stars.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small> One positive reviewer wrote, “Austin Oaks treated me so well, the only thing that was missing was the red carpet on the floor!”</p> <p>A more negative review cited staff as a negative. He wrote, “This place has good things and bad things. The treatment is good and the outside time is fun but the problem is the staff.” Another negative reviewer echoed that sentiment, writing, “This is literally the worst place to send people who need help. She wrote, “How long does it take for the patients to get a code to call their loved ones? I can’t get any info, and it has been 2 weeks! I just want to know what is going on and what to expect when he gets out! Someone help me get the info on the process of admission/det.”</p> <p><strong>WHAT STAFF SAY</strong></p> <p>To date, a sole staff member offered a largely positive review to Rehabs.com. The employee said that Austin Oaks is a great facility and that he or she would recommend it to others.
