<p><strong>ABOUT FIRST STEP RECOVERY CENTERS- MEMPHIS, TN</strong></p> <p>First Step Recovery Centers (FSRC), located in Memphis, Tenn., offers <strong>Intensive Outpatient (IOP) treatment</strong> to individuals struggling with substance abuse, mental health issues, or co-occurring disorders. The facility is located in the heart of midtown Memphis, not far from the downtown medical district and easily accessible by public transportation. </p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>The facility’s treatment philosophy treats both substance abuse and any mental illness that may be present as primary disorders requiring equal amounts of treatment and priority. At the time of admission, clients are screened to determine their level of need and presence of co-occurring mental health disorders. </p> <p><strong>Adult male and female clients participate in IOP treatment</strong> which meets three times per week for a three hour classes each day. Individual counseling sessions are also incorporated into the treatment plan. As treatment progresses, clients will be able to attend shorter group therapy sessions. <strong>Case management</strong> is also incorporated into this program.</p> <p>Clients in need of additional support at home have the option to reside in a <strong>sober living home through the facility’s partnership with Mid South Sober Living</strong>. This is an especially useful resource for those new to recovery. </p> <p>Finally, the facility also offers a 12-hour program titled <strong>Alcohol and Drug Safety School</strong>, part of the Tennessee approved “Prime for Life” curriculum. This course provides knowledge and background around substance addiction and risk-taking behavior while teaching life-skills to avoid negative consequences of alcohol and drug use. </p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its treatment staff. The anonymous client gave the facility five out of five stars for treatment effectiveness, five stars for accommodations & amenities, and one star for meals & nutrition. He strongly agreed that there were many counseling options to choose from depending on the client’s preference; that the admissions and discharge procedures were swift, organized, and clearly explained; and that the facility staff were experienced and well-trained. He felt that a strength of the facility was “It's for people that have went through a trauma of some sort as well as have a drug problem.” He also added, “I highly recommend this facility for anyone that has a hard drug problem...This facility accommodates both problems."</p> <p>On the facility’s Facebook page, which it has the ability to manage, First Step has a rating of five out of five stars based on one review.<small class="footnote"><a href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small> Alum H.S. gave the facility five stars but didn’t leave a review.</p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its costs. However, one alum polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing indicated the treatment plan was not affordable nor were payment plans, scholarships, or financial assistance made available.
