ABOUT TEEN CHALLENGE MIDSOUTH ADULT CENTER

Located in downtown Chattanooga, Tenn., Teen Challenge Midsouth Adult Center aims to provide adult men and women with “an effective and comprehensive faith-based solution to drug and alcohol addiction and other life-controlling problems.” Taking place in separate, gender-specific environments, the 12-month program is completed over the course of four distinct phases, each of which carries a unique set of recovery goals and objectives.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The 12-month program at Teen Challenge Midsouth Adult Center is broken down into the following four phases: Critical Care, Introduction/Evangelism, Character Application/Discipleship, and Life Skills. Throughout this time, participants also follow an accompanying curriculum of 14 workbooks and manuals designed to help them change their attitudes and behaviors, set and achieve realistic goals, develop deeper levels of self-awareness, and more. The curriculum is also quite structured on a day-to-day basis, beginning with a 6:30 a.m. wake up and ending with lights out at 10 p.m.

In Critical Care, the first 30 days of treatment, men and women take care of their most immediate needs. They’ll establish a routine, adjust to their new surroundings, and form a treatment plan alongside their assigned counselor.

The next four months are spent with an inward focus. In Introduction/Evangelism, participants cultivate a positive outlook on the future, learn “how to apply God’s Word to life,” and attend classes in anger and forgiveness.

Also four months in length, Character Application/Discipleship offers men and women opportunity for helping others through the process. They’ll focus on mending broken relationships and begin seeking out employment at this point.

In the final two months, Life Skill participants have their eyes on the future. They’ll join a church, learn practical skills like budgeting, resume writing, and job searching, and cut old ties, focusing instead on restored family relationships.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Teen Challenge Midsouth Adult Center features a large team of program directors, counselors, and administrative staff.
