<p><strong>ABOUT DAKOTA COUNSELING INSTITUTE - STEPPING STONES</strong></p> <p>Owned and operated by the Dakota Counseling Institute, Stepping Stones is a <strong>treatment center for adults and adolescents</strong> struggling with substance abuse and mental health concerns. Located in Mitchell, S.D., the facility offers services to residents of Mitchell and its surrounding communities. Treatment options include <strong>inpatient and outpatient levels of care</strong>. In addition, <strong>social detox services</strong> are offered on-site.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>All clients receive a <strong>comprehensive substance abuse assessment</strong> to build an individualized treatment plan. Stepping Stones provides a full range of substance abuse treatment services, including on-site detoxification, a co-ed inpatient treatment program, as well as <strong>an intensive outpatient program (IOP)</strong> and traditional outpatient program.</p> <p>Programming consists of education, intervention services, and <strong>individual and group counseling</strong>. Groups offered include moral recognition therapy (MRT), relapse prevention, <a href="https://www.uc.edu/corrections/services/trainings/changing_offender_behavior/cbi-satrainingoverview.html" target="_blank">Cognitive Behavioral Interventions for Substance Abuse (CBISA)</a>, parenting classes, and anger management workshops, among others. </p> <p>According to Stepping Stone’s website, many clients are able to continue working while in treatment. Following treatment, clients may enroll in a <strong>transitional living programs</strong> and receive <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/extended-recovery-programs/" target="_blank">continuing care services</a>. </p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>The Stepping Stones treatment team includes board-certified addiction counselors and licensed addiction counselors. The sole individual surveyed by Rehabs.com to date rated the staff's level of experience and training four out of five stars.</p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>Information about living arrangements with Stepping Stones is limited. Stepping Stones <strong>prohibits cell phones, cameras, personal computers and TVs.</strong> Laundry facilities and transportation to and from the facility are available. Clients are offered a light breakfast and two full meals per day. A list of items allowed and other information is available on the facility's website.</p> <p><strong>WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY</strong></p> <p>The one loved one polled at the time of this writing gave the center a mostly positive review. While they were disappointed with the facility's high cost and lack of aftercare, they gave the program four out of five stars for its treatment effectiveness and family participation. “Provides good group counseling,” they wrote.</p> <p>On Google, two reviewers gave a rating of one star and five stars, respectively.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small> Dennis, a friend of a client who objected to the co-ed nature of the facility, wrote: "The place could use a renovation and new employees with better knowledge of treatment."</p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>No information is available on the facility's website regarding cost of treatment.
