ABOUT THE JOURNEY TO HOPE, HEALTH AND HEALING, INC.

The Journey to Hope, Health and Healing, Inc. (formally the Center for Behavioral Health - RI) provides specialized, outpatient-based treatment services for adults struggling with chemical dependency, specifically opioid addiction, as well as co-occurring mental health concerns. Through its three clinics, with locations in the communities of Johnston, Westerly, and Providence, R.I., the treatment organization offers medication-assisted treatment (MAT), an intensive outpatient program (IOP), and other outpatient-based services.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

To identify individual client needs, individuals may first participate in an initial assessment before beginning treatment. If a client is struggling with opioid addiction, the individual will be referred to the facility’s medication-assisted therapy program. The Journey's MAT program consists of a regimen of methadone or Suboxone Depending on the needs of the individual, clinicians determine a dosage to adequately minimize opiate cravings and alleviate withdrawal symptoms commonly associated with opiate addiction.

In addition to the medication regimen, which addresses the physical issues of addiction, clients may also participate in the facility's intensive outpatient program (IOP). To address the emotional and psychological contributorss of addiction, clients participate in clinician-led individual and group counseling sessions through IOP. The Journey's outpatient program may also involve educational classes on improving coping techniques, methods for trigger avoidance, and skills for regulating emotions.

To treat individuals with co-occurring mental health difficulties, the Journey to Hope, Health and Healing, Inc. provides mental health-focused counseling sessions and psychiatric evaluations. Referrals for medication management may also be available. In addition, the facility offers testing for Hep C and HIV, medical examination as well as specialized counseling.

As the client progresses through MAT, clinicians may regularly monitor and manage the dosage, gradually decreasing the dosage until the client no longer requires the Suboxone or methadone regimen. According to the facility's website, clients are required to visit the clinic daily for the first two months of MAT, though may begin taking home medication doses as they progress. Due to state laws, clients are regularly drug tested to ensure accountability.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The Journey to Hope, Health and Healing, Inc. employs a multidisciplinary team comprised of physicians experienced in addiction medicine, nurses, licensed substance abuse counselors, and physician assistants.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The sole alum polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing was generally critical of most elements of the treatment program. Out of five stars, the alum gave two-star ratings for the facility's ability to treat co-occurring disorders, its discharge planning, as well as a one-star rating for the treatment staff's level of experience and training. However, the alum did cite counselors as a facility strength and offered a four-star rating for the facility's counseling options.

FINANCING

According to the facility's website, The Journey to Hope, Health and Healing, Inc.accepts some private insurance plans, including United Health and Blue Cross Blue Shield, as well as Medicaid. The current cost of facility's MAT is $88 per week.
