<p><strong>ABOUT PATH, INC.</strong></p> <p>People Acting to Help (PATH), Inc., located in Philadelphia, Penn., offers <strong>residential and outpatient treatment to children, adolescents and adults seeking treatment for substance abuse or mental health challenges</strong>. In Pennsylvania, only <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/PA17.pdf" target="_blank">22.3 percent of facilities</a> offer services for adolescents. The facility also offers a variety of services for <strong>adults with intellectual disabilities</strong>. PATH has been in existence for over 40 years, providing services to the greater Philadelphia area. Detox is not available. </p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>The facility’s behavioral health treatment program offers individualized services to each client focusing on finding an individualized path for each client’s treatment. The treatment process begins with a comprehensive mental health and substance abuse assessment. While many facilities in Pennsylvania offer substance abuse assessments, PATH is one of the <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/PA17.pdf" target="_blank">203 facilities</a> that complete a comprehensive mental health assessment as well. </p> <p>During treatment, clients work with case managers to coordinate treatments. Your case manager will help you develop a plan focusing on what your strengths and areas in need of improvement are. That way, the plan will be specific to your needs. </p> <p>PATH’s program for adults with intellectual disabilities supports both the client and their families. Services in this department also range from higher intensities to minimal supports including <strong>vocational support and training, community integrated employment, an adult day program, and community living arrangements</strong>. <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/PA17.pdf" target="_blank">Only 34.1 percent of facilities</a> include job training in their treatment programs. </p> <p>The facility uses a team approach for services which includes the client, the client’s family members, various PATH staff, support coordinators, outside consultants, specialty therapists, and more. PATH offers specialized programs for Russian speaking clients in need of treatment for mental health or substance abuse problems. There are <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/PA17.pdf" target="_blank">186 facilities in the state</a> that can offer services in another language including Russian. </p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>The facility’s behavioral treatment team includes a <strong>psychiatrist, medical doctor, licensed and master’s level social workers, and licensed professional counselors</strong>. The intellectual disabilities program team may include support coordinators, outside consultants, specialized therapists, and more. </p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>PATH’s mental health specialized residential program provides <strong>shared homes with two other clients</strong> in a single home or duplex home located in Northeast Philadelphia. Clients receive assistance in all areas where they may need support such as cooking, shopping, budgeting, and personal care. Clients are encouraged to independently decide how they will spend their days, evenings, and weekends. </p> <p>The mental health transitional residential program assists individuals in learning skills necessary to live independently in the community. The group home consists of <strong>9 beds total with shared bedrooms</strong> with one other client. Housemates prepare and eat meals together and contribute to household chores. The apartment building complexes consist of a one or two bedroom shared apartment with one other person. There is a nearby apartment in the same building where staff reside and are available at all times to assist clients as needed. Roommates share in completing household chores and may prepare meals together or individually. </p> <p>The young adult residential treatment program is intended for <strong>males between the ages of 18 to 25 years old</strong>. Clients stay in a shared home with other residents and attend a daily treatment program, receiving individual and group therapy along with psychiatrist visits as needed. Clients all share in the general household chores and prepare meals together. This home features an on-site basketball court and a membership to the local community center. </p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong> </p> <p>At the time of this writing there has been one alum polled by Rehabs.com about PATH. The anonymous alum did not feel that PATH had very experienced counselors and gave a mixed review. He gave the facility five out of five stars for family participation, three out of five stars for connectivity and whether it was worth the cost, and one star for its holistic offerings. The alum felt that a strength of the facility was that it was easy to access by public transportation and that they accept clients 24/7. He wrote that the facility could improve upon the “Young, still in college counselors,who really need some help themselves.....”</p> <p><strong>On the facility’s Google page, there is an overall rating of 3.9 out of five stars based on 35 total reviews</strong>.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small> Alumni generally wrote how the therapists are “very caring.” However, one alum indicated that there was a lack of “LONG-TERM HELP.”</p> <p>On Facebook, where the facility can manage its page, PATH, Inc. has four five out of five star reviews. <small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-2"><sup>[2]</sup></a></small> In the only written comment, Richard wrote how “Its a wonderful place. I've gotten so far in my life because of this place!”</p> <p><strong>WHAT STAFF SAY</strong></p> <p>On Indeed, path Inc earned an average of <strong>3.6 out of five stars from 20 reviews to date.</strong><small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-3"><sup>[3]</sup></a></small> Employees indicate that the working hours are long and that management “could have more staff input when making changing to the program that affected staff and clients.” However, many former staff members wrote how it was an “Excellent place to work.”</p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>PATH is one of <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/PA17.pdf" target="_blank">Pennsylvania’s 284 private non-profit organizations</a> and it accepts donations to help pay for the services offered at the facility.
