ABOUT RECOVERY OUTREACH COMMUNITY CENTER

Located in Northeast Salem, Ore., about an hour south of Portland, Recovery Outreach Community Center (ROCC) is a community-centered organization dedicated to addressing substance abuse and mental health disorders. Established in 2007 and one of the 197 (88.3 percent) outpatient centers in the state, ROCC is open 73 hours each week and runs a handful of weekly support groups for individuals struggling with anxiety, trauma, and other mental illnesses. This center is also one of the 115 (51.6 percent) of facilities in the state with specifically-tailored groups for individuals struggling with co-occurring mental health disorders.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

ROCC is open to all persons looking to share with and gain from others in recovery. Each week, the organization hosts NAMI Connect, a peer-led recovery support group for adults with mental illness. NAMI-trained facilitators are there to ensure that all are given opportunity to hear and be heard.

Also on schedule is a trauma support group that offers various recovery techniques, a one-hour meeting for women seeking to support one another in hard times, and a 12-step-inspired group that's specifically designed for individuals struggling with a dual diagnosis.

Aside from these services, ROCC opens its doors for a free weekly yoga class as well as arts and crafts, board games, and a casual β€œchat circle.”

STAFF CREDENTIALS

ROCC’s leadership include an associate director who’s a J.D., a personnel development director, and a peer support specialist, amongst others. In Oregon, 99.2 percent of all substance abuse treatment facilities have higher education requirements for staff. The sole alum to provide Rehabs.com with feedback to date awarded five out of five stars for the staff's level of support.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Giving an overall rating of four stars, a former program participant named Tracy described ROCC as β€œa mental health drop-in facility addressing the co-morbidity of mental health and substance abuse disorders.” She also gave four stars or more for the staff’s availability, training, and respect shown to clients.

Feedback was positive across secondary reviews sites. On Facebook, for example, where ROCC received a well above-average rating of four out of five stars based on 29 reviews, five-star reviewer Ernest described the facility as β€œa good place for people who are dealing with recovery and from any and all issues they are dealing with.”[1] As a note, ROCC may have the ability to manage their Facebook page.

Seven reviewers on Google also gave a high-average rating of 4.1 out of five stars at the time of this writing.[2] Former client C.S. described "a very clean, calm and soothing enviroment," adding: "Lots of great classes, peer support and activities." R.J. echoed this opinion, writing: "When I was having mental health issues it gave me a safe place to be and give back to the community." Only one user shared a negative experience.

FINANCING

There is currently no information provided by the organization's website regarding its treatment costs, though the sole alum to respond to Rehabs.com to date indicated they felt that treatment was indeed worth the cost.

[1] https://www.facebook.com/pg/ROCCSALEM/reviews/

[2] GoogleReviews
