<p><strong>ABOUT LIFEWORKS NORTHWEST – KING/NE PORTLAND</strong></p> <p>Headquartered in Portland, Ore., <strong>nonprofit</strong> LifeWorks Northwest (LifeWorks NW) provides a variety of treament and preventative services for individuals struggling with substance abuse and <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/" target="_blank">co-occurring disorders</a>. It is one of <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/OR16.pdf" target="_blank">117 nonprofit treatment centers in oregon.</a> Programs are available for children, adolescents, adults, and senior citizens. </p> <p>The organization operates multiple clinics with varying treatment options, but the King/NE location offers various tracks of outpatient care, as well as <strong>residential treatment for pregnant women and mothers with young children</strong>. According to the facility's brochure, many of the programs are designed to be <a href="https://www.lifeworksnw.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/ReferralPiece2014FINAL.pdf" target="_blank">"culturally relevant for African Americans."</a></p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>Treatment begins with an initial consultation and assessment to determine the most appropriate course of treatment and create an individualized treatment plan.</p> <p>LifeWorks NW takes a, approach to treatment that is both individualized and culturally competent. The diverse staff <strong>represents a number of different backgrounds and ethnicities,</strong> including African American, Native American, and Latino. The duration of therapy corresponds to the severity of each client’s condition and, therefore, varies from person to person.</p> <p>Treatment combines <strong>individual, group, and family counseling</strong>. Educational components address substance abuse in general, as well as related topics like driving under the influence. Additionally, clients with <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/" target="_blank">co-occurring mental health disorders</a> can access appropriate treatment and <strong>medication management</strong>. There is also a specialized track for those with gambling addiction.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>According to its website, the center’s staff is multidisciplinary and multilingual. The organization employs Ph.D. level clinicians, licensed clinical social workers, physicians, registered nurses, and other health professionals. Counselors fluent in Spanish, Filipino, Chinese, Russian, and other languages are available.</p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its living arrangements and related offerings; however, the sole alum polled by Rehabs.com to date indicated that she had access to a private bathroom and kitchen, and that she was responsible for preparing her own meals. Both she and the single loved one polled at the time of this writing gave LifeWorks Northwest three out of five stars for its accommodations and amenities.</p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>At the time of this writing, one alum has provided feedback for LifeWorks Northwest to Rehabs.com. The review was positive. </p> <p>The alum, Tammy, gave the program’s treatment effectiveness and holistic offerings five out of five stars each, noting her appreciation for the privacy she was afforded while residing on-site; however, she did report that the building itself was “ran down.” “They made every possible effort to provide services that I needed,” she wrote.</p> <p>Reviews on secondary sites were mostly positive. Very knowledgeable, supportive, engaged, and compassionate," wrote Lisa in a representative review on Google. She did however note that the facility itself was lacking. "It is the very worst interior design for a therapeutic environment I have ever seen" she wrote, though she added "Still, best therapist."</p> <p><strong>WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY</strong></p> <p>The one anonymous loved one polled by Rehabs.com to date gave the program a mixed review. The loved one gave the facility’s treatment effectiveness four out of five stars, adding “It’s ok” in the comments section. However, the loved one gave the facility just two out of five stars for its affordability and family participation.</p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>According to the center’s website, some private insurance plans are accepted.
