<p><strong>ABOUT ADVENTIST HEALTH – UNITY CENTER FOR BEHAVIORAL HEALTH</strong></p> <p>Set in southeast Portland, Ore., Adventist Health is a faith-based, nonprofit health care network consisting of a full-service medical center and dozens of medical clinics and home care services. The network’s Unity Center for Behavioral Health, which opened in 2016, offers <strong>inpatient psychiatric and emergency treatment services for adults and teens</strong>.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>The Unity Center’s inpatient program provides <strong>thorough initial assessments and diagnoses</strong>, individualized treatment planning, and comprehensive discharge and continuing care services, according to its website. It offers Psychiatric Emergency Service (PES) for walk-in patients as well.</p> <p>Treatment utilizes modalities like <strong>cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT),</strong> and includes medication management, education, and individual and group therapy. One alum who submitted a review to Rehabs.com also said that the facility utilizes the 12-Steps in treatment.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>Adventist Health has 550 physicians, 1,900 employees and more than 250 volunteers, though no specific staff information is provided regarding the Unity Center. Across the state of Oregon, <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/OR16.pdf" target="_blank">97.8 percent of facilities</a> are accredited, licensed, or certified. Two Rehabs.com survey respondents polled on the matter gave positive reviews of four or five out of five stars on the staff’s level of training and experience.</p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>The <strong>102-bed Unity Center</strong> has 80 beds for adults and 22 beds for teenagers. According to center’s website, the facility has a garden, pharmacy, spiritual room, and a café. The program also offers an array of holistic activities such as art therapy, mindfulness practice, horticultural therapy, music, dance, and movement therapy, occupational therapy, psychoeducational skill building, and recreation therapy.</p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>The three anonymous alumni polled by Rehabs.com as of this writing shared mostly positive feedback. Together, these alumni gave at least four out of five stars for overall treatment effectiveness, two of whom praised the counselors and staff. Despite praising the program, one of the alums said the treatment here is expensive.</p> <p><strong>Feedback across secondary sites was mixed</strong>. Forty-one Google reviews awarded the center an average rating of 2.3 out of five stars. Commentary was very negative. Two-star reviewer Hailey, for instance, found the emergency services here “very disorganized.” </p> <p>In contrast, Adventist Medical Center’s Facebook page has an average rating of 4.3 out of five stars based on 605 reviews.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-2"><sup>[2]</sup></a></small></p> <p><strong>WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY</strong></p> <p>Though no loved ones have submitted reviews to Rehabs.com, a number of Google reviewers commented about the facility with mixed opinions. Lisa, whose nephew attended, said that the facility was nice but wished family participation was better.
