ABOUT BESTCARE — KLAMATH FALLS RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT

Founded in 1997, BestCare is one of the 125 (55.3 percent) of private, non-profit treatment facilities in Oregon. It operates five outpatient facilities and three residential centers in central Oregon for clients seeking treatment for substance abuse and mental health disorders.

The Klamath Falls residential center, located on the eastern outskirts of the small city in southwestern Oregon, offers medically managed detox and short-term residential treatment.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The treatment process begins with an assessment to determine the client’s needs. Most clients begin in the detox program, which offers a short-term method of beginning the recovery process. The center offers Subutex to aid with opiate withdrawal, but only during detox, not for long-term use.

The residential program lasts on average 25 to 45 days, making it one of Oregon’s 28 (12.4 percent) of short-term treatment options. The facility uses an individualized, multidisciplinary approach. Specifically, it uses a variety of evidence-based practices, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Seeking Safety, and moral recognition therapy (MRT).

Clients also attend daily 12-step meetings and weekly 12-step facilitation sessions. Residents participate in individual, group, and family therapy as well.

The center also offers some holistic options, such as yoga, mindfulness, and art therapy. These options are worked into the overall treatment plan to make it more well-rounded. Clients are expected to do chores during their stay, and each day ends with a gratitude session.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The facility's website notes the medical director of this facility is a licensed addiction specialist. The treatment team includes licensed, certified nurses and counselors. The single alum polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave five out of five stars for the staff's level of training and experience. It is one of the 27 (11.9 percent) facilities in Oregon that are accredited by CARF.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Families are welcome to visit on Saturday afternoons, and in certain cases, clients can receive weekend passes to visit family during their program. During their stay, clients are expected to do chores to help manage the facility. It has group and individual counseling spaces available, as well as living spaces for each client. Both individuals polled by Rehabs.com gave the center five out of five stars for its accommodations, its meals, and its cleanliness.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

At the time of this writing, three alumni provided mostly positive feedback about their experience at Bestcare to Rehabs.com. While one alum highlighted how the facility lacked “day spa” services, they indicated that treatment was effective. The single alum polled about additional metrics gave five out of five stars for the level of family participation, connectivity, and if they’d recommend the facility to others.
