<p><strong>ABOUT A CHANCE TO CHANGE</strong></p> <p>A Chance To Change (ACTC), located in Oklahoma City, Okla., offers <strong>outpatient treatment</strong> to individuals of all ages who are struggling with substance abuse, <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/" target="_blank">co-occurring disorders</a>, and other behavioral and emotional conditions. The nonprofit organization was founded in 1979 and has grown to offer a wide range of <strong>education, prevention, intervention, and counseling services</strong>. </p> <p>Today, ACTC is one of 52 substance abuse treatment facilities in the state that also address <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/OK17.pdf" target="_blank">gambling addiction</a> and among 52.4 percent that <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/OK17.pdf" target="_blank">serve clients with co-occurring disorders</a>.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>The facility’s structured treatment program follows the disease model of addiction and emphasizes the importance of <strong>family involvement</strong>. Throughout treatment, clients receive <strong>one-on-one, group, and family counseling</strong>. The facility’s staff also offers trauma-focused counseling.</p> <p>Group counseling sessions include an early recovery group and a variety of <strong>gender-specific meetings</strong>. Community-based support networks, such as <strong>12-Step programming</strong> and <a href="https://www.celebraterecovery.com/" target="_blank">Celebrate Recovery</a>, are also incorporated into the treatment plan to help clients obtain long-term sobriety. Treatment generally spans <strong>12 weeks</strong>, although clients may continue counseling, as needed. </p> <p>In addition, staff also deliver counseling for depression, anxiety, grief, and pain management. The facility offers <strong>a low-cost gambling program</strong>. Gambling group counseling sessions include coed and women-specific meetings. </p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>Within the state of Oklahoma, ACTC is among 50.8 percent of substance abuse treatment facilities accredited by the <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/OK17.pdf" target="_blank">Center for Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities – CARF</a>. The treatment team includes a medical doctor, social worker, licensed marriage and family therapists, licensed professional counselors, and licensed addiction counselors. </p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>ACTC is located in a quiet commercial neighborhood. The facility is 10 miles north of central Oklahoma City. Photos on the website show a bright, well appointed facility with comfortable seating and special treatment area for children. </p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>Rehabs.com has yet to receive alumni feedback to date. On secondary sites, ACTC has received <strong>highly positive</strong> coverage: 4.7 out of five stars based on seven reviews on Google and 4.5 stars based on 12 reviews on Facebook, which the organization can manage. <small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small> <small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-2"><sup>[2]</sup></a></small> </p> <p>Of the 19 reviewers in total, 14 awarded the facility <strong>perfect five stars</strong>, four awarded it four out of five stars, and one rated it one star. Only two of the reviewers left commentary with their rating. A five-star reviewer wrote: This place is amazing;” the other, a four-star reviewer, indicated that her sister, who had been a licensed alcohol and drug counselor, “spoke highly of ACTC when looking for recovery options for the clients she loved serving.” </p> <p><strong>WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY</strong></p> <p>The sole loved one polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing submitted generally favorable feedback about ACTC. The anonymous reviewer expressed an overall positive experience, awarding five-star ratings for family participation, likelihood to recommend, staff experience and training, and treatment of co-occurring disorders. Although feeling it “could be less expensive,” the loved one wrote: “It’s a great place. I’d recommend it.”</p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>ACTC does not publish information about the cost of treatment. However, its website notes that “ACTC is funded by program fees, insurance reimbursement, donations from individuals and corporations, private foundation grants, the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, United Way of Central Oklahoma, and other sources.” </p> <p>The center accepts a <strong>wide range of in-network private insurance options</strong>, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and Magellan, as well as <strong>Medicaid</strong>.
