ABOUT CARL ALBERT COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH CENTER - OUTREACH CLINIC

The Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services’ (ODMHSAS) Carl Albert Community Mental Health Center and its affiliated outreach clinics offer comprehensive substance abuse and behavioral health treatment services throughout southeastern Oklahoma. The Outreach Clinic of McAlester, Okla. offers outpatient-based treatment for adolescents, adults, and seniors.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Before beginning treatment at the Outreach Clinic, clinicians perform an initial assessment to ensure the outpatient level of care is appropriate. If a client requires a heightened level of care, the individual may be referred to one of ODMHSAS' three residential facilities.

According to the ODMSHSAS’ website, treatment programs are designed to help individuals “reunite with their families; increase employment prospects and monthly income; stay out of jail or reduce involvement with the criminal justice system; reduce homelessness; break the cycle of addiction; achieve numerous other successful outcomes, such as obtaining higher education, increasing productivity on the job, and stopping tobacco use.”

During outpatient-based treatment, clients may participate in individual and group counseling sessions, educational classes, and relapse prevention workshops. Depending on the needs of the client, counseling sessions and educational classes may focus on mental health concerns, substance abuse, or co-occurring disorders. Referrals for medication management may also be available.

According to the facility's website, the Outreach Clinic also offers specialized programming for individuals involved in the criminal justice system, women with children, Hispanics, and Native American populations. In addition, the facility offers DUI assessments and DUI treatment programs that may be designed to satisfy court requirements for license reinstatement.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its treatment staff. However, on Google reviews, two of the three reviewers shared their disappointment with the facility’s scheduling and logistics[1]. “They may want to consider treating their patients better and have better understanding that not all of them have transportation of their own."
