ABOUT UPPER VALLEY MEDICAL CENTER BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CARE SERVICES

Located in a rural area of Troy, Ohio, Upper Valley Medical Center (UVMC) Behavioral Health Care Services provides short-term inpatient treatment for children, adolescents, and adults. The Joint Commission-accredited facility is also host to various prevention and education services. Detoxification is not available on-site.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Adults ages 18 and up in need of intensive psychiatric treatment are medically monitored by an around-the-clock nursing team. Although the unit does not go into detail about its treatment modalities, UVMC claims to offer “highly-specialized, multidisciplinary and individualized care” for adults. Children (ages five to 11) and adolescents (12 to 17) have access to similar treatment services= with an additional emphasis on healthy coping skills.

UVMC’s continuum of care provides clients with inpatient services and outpatient follow up. Though a typical inpatient stay lasts four to five days with the primary goal being crisis stabilization, clients work intently with their treatment team to determine the appropriate level of aftercare. Clients may also receive referrals towards community-based resources, private physicians, or UVMC’s outpatient services.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

UVMC’s treatment team is led by board-certified psychiatrists and consists of registered nurses, social workers, counselors, and recreational specialists. Others, in contrast, used terms like “extremely rude” in reference to the ER staff.[1]

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

Though they both noted “expensive” treatment, the two anonymous loved ones polled by Rehabs.com to date gave high three-, four-, and five-star ratings for more than a dozen metrics evaluated, including the level of family participation, its dicharge planning, and counseling options. “Very good place for those that are able and open to going there,” one loved one wrote in a representative statement.

FINANCING

The facility works with private insurance providers as well as Medicaid and Medicare.
