<p><strong>ABOUT THE COUNSELING CENTER INC.</strong></p> <p>From the center of the small city of Portsmouth on Ohio's Kentucky border, The Counseling Center, Inc. offers a crisis center, <strong>outpatient care for men and women, a maternal addiction program, and transitional living facilities.</strong> The organization supports individuals struggling with problematic substance use as well as <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/" target="_blank">co-occurring mental health disorders</a> and physical health problems.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>For those in crisis, The Counseling Center offers a 24-hour helpline and a crisis center that can support those struggling with an acute psychiatric and/or addiction emergency.</p> <p>For longer-term treatment, The Counseling Center <strong>uses the 12-Steps</strong> and aims to treat the whole person: their physical, emotional, and spiritual health. The gender-separate outpatient addiction treatment tracks offer individual, group, and family counseling; case management services; transportation; <strong>occupational and vocational support; and primary health care.</strong> </p> <p>The Stepping Stones program offers outpatient treatment, supportive housing, and <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/extended-recovery-programs/" target="_blank">aftercare</a> to chemically dependent pregnant women and mothers with children under the age of 12. <strong>Clients may bring their children to treatment with them;</strong> in addition to the treatment modalities listed above, they receive prenatal care and education and assistance after birth. The program includes <strong>medically assisted opioid-detox services.</strong> </p> <p>Additional services available at the Counseling Center include GED preparation, adult literacy classes, a jail diversion program, and prevention and outreach services.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>Staff includes licensed chemical dependency and mental health counselors. In addition, pregnant and parenting mothers are connected to a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist.
