<p><strong>ABOUT FREEDOM HALL</strong></p> <p>Located in Piketon, Ohio, Freedom Hall is the ministry arm of New Beginnings Outreach Ministries of Southern Ohio. Freedom Hall provides is one of Ohio’s <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/OH17.pdf" target="_blank">71 long-term, non-hospital treatment facilities for substance abuse</a>. It offers <strong>long-term, faith-based residential treatment for adults</strong> seeking treatment for chemical dependency. The facility does not provide medical detox on-site. </p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>Upon admission to Freedom Hall, clients may undergo an initial assessment to identify specific issues that may contribute to chemical dependency. To treat its clientele, Freedom Hall blends <strong>Christian principles and practices</strong> with evidence-based treatment methods. The average length of the residential program is <strong>between nine and 12 months</strong>.</p> <p>Freedom Hall utilizes <strong>cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)</strong> to help clients identify irrational thinking patterns and how these patterns may contribute to addictive behavior. Clients participate in both <strong>individual and group therapy sessions</strong> to facilitate open communication, peer support, and learn strategies for relapse prevention. Clients also participate in a Christian-based <strong>12-step</strong> program called the <strong>12 Steps of Deliverance</strong>. The 12-Step program is used in <a href="https://www.samhsa.gov/data/sites/default/files/cbhsq-reports/2017_NSSATS.pdf" target="_blank">73 percent of treatment facilities in the U.S.</a>.</p> <p>In addition to counseling, clients also participate in coping skills workshops and attend <strong>educational classes on anger management, parenting, life skills, and relationships</strong>. Education classes are an effective way to help clients make improvements in their lives, and most treatment programs incorporate the classes into their programs. </p> <p>Freedom Hall also holds <strong>family counseling sessions</strong> each Monday night to support loved ones, and loved ones are invited to attend worship services. Along with <strong>evidence-based treatments</strong>, Freedom Hall's programming emphasizes <strong>Christian principles and practices</strong> as an important component to treatment. During residential treatment, clients receive spiritual counseling, <strong>participate in Bible study sessions</strong>, share devotionals, and attend worship services. </p> <p>After four months in the Freedom Hall residential program, clients begin to <strong>prepare for discharge and self-sufficiency by returning to the workforce</strong>, obtaining a driver's license, enrolling in college courses, or <strong>obtaining their G.E.D.</strong> through preparation classes and testing. During this stage of residential treatment, many clients also reunite with their families and children.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>Freedom Hall employs a team of licensed professional counselors experienced in chemical dependency, as well as pastors who lead the spiritual aspect of treatment. </p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>Freedom Hall can accommodate up to <strong>31 males and 16 females</strong>, and residents are housed in separate living quarters. During the first two weeks of the program, clients undergo a black-out period during which residents have no contact with family or friends. During treatment, many of the clients’ daily needs are provided. Clients also find employment near the end of the program. </p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>The two alumni polled by Rehabs.com to date offer mixed opinions of the facility. One alum awarded perfect five stars for the facility's counseling options, faith-based approach, and the amount of family participation. "Treatment was affordable and with great counseling options," the alum wrote. A;though offering five stars for the facility's cleanliness and appreciated the Bible-based programming, the other alum gave two stars for the facility's counseling options and the staff's level of experience and training, cited staff's professionalism as a weakness. </p> <p>On Freedom Hall's Facebook page, which the facility can manage, 165 reviewers gave the facility a rating of <strong>4.9 out of five stars</strong>.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small> Many reviewers <strong>praised the facility's faith-based approach</strong>. Alumni indicated that the program “saved” lives and were grateful for the program and its “open” staff members who provided their own life experiences to help clients.</p> <p><strong>WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY</strong></p> <p>The sole loved one polled by Rehabs.com to date felt the facility might have been effective, though their loved one did not complete treatment. Out of five stars, the loved one gave five stars for family participation, four stars for discharge planning, and three stars for counseling options. "We tried to help our son but he checked himself out after about a week," the loved one wrote. </p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>Freedom Hall is supported entirely by private donations. According to the facility's website, $350 can support one resident for a month of treatment.
