ABOUT HORIZON HOUSE

Owned by the Kent-based mental health provider Townhall II, Kent, Ohio’s Horizon House offers a 90-day residential program and outpatient-based treatment for women struggling with substance abuse. It is one of the just 176 (43.4 percent) treatment centers in the state with female-specific programming. Outpatient-only treatment for men is available through one of Townhall II’s other programs. Medically monitored detox is not offered at Horizon House.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

All clients are assessed upon admission, and residents of Portage County and pregnant women are given priority for admission. The assessment helps to determine an individualized treatment approach and appropriate level of care.

Treatment at Horizon House is based on a structured daily schedule that includes group and individual counseling, family therapy, and 12-step participation. Women who have experienced abuse or trauma have access to specialized counseling, and all clients receive individual case management to ensure progress, have access to appropriate referrals, and make sure they have the support they need.

Most residents complete the program within 90 days, and have the option to go on to live in a supportive sober living center.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The treatment team is made up of licensed master’s-level clinicians with backgrounds in addiction and substance abuse. The sole alum to provide feedback to Rehabs.com on the staff's level of experience and training to date awarded five out of five stars for this survey metric.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

The facility operates out of a modern building a block from the Cuyahoga River in central Kent. The living environment is home-like and designed to offer a safe and nurturing space for women to heal. Residents' children are allowed to visit at scheduled times through the week, and may stay overnight on weekends.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Rehabs.com has received positive feedback from four alumni at the time of this writing.
