<p><strong>ABOUT COMMUNITY COUNSELING CENTER OF ASHTABULA COUNTY</strong></p> <p>Located on the eastern outskirts of Ashtabula, in the northeastern corner of Ohio, private nonprofit Community Counseling Center (CCC) of Ashtabula County provides a range of psychiatric and behavioral health treatment programs. Its Alcohol and Other Drug Addiction Program (AOD) offers <strong>outpatient treatment for adults,</strong> as well as being amongst the <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/OH16.pdf" target="_blank">137 (31.3 percent)</a> treatment facilities in Ohio with services for <strong><a href="https://www.recovery.org/pro/articles/is-my-child-just-experimenting/" target="_blank">adolescents ages 12 to 18</a></strong> and one of of the only <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/OH16.pdf" target="_blank">40 (9.9 percent)</a> Ohio centers with <strong>specifically-tailored programming for seniors.</strong> </p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>Treatment begins with <strong>a initial assessment and a chemical dependency screening,</strong> which are used to determine an appropriate level of care. Each client is assigned a clinician, and together they establish a treatment plan tailored to the individual client’s needs. </p> <p>While CCC offers medication-assisted treatment (MAT), including <strong>Suboxone and Naltrexone</strong>, the facility typically prescribes these addiction medications after clients have completed an unaffiliated detox program. To assist clients enter a detoxification program, <strong>crisis intervention services</strong> are also available.</p> <p>The building blocks of all programs are <strong>individual, group, and <a href="https://www.recovery.org/pro/articles/the-pain-of-addiction-in-the-family-how-counseling-can-help" target="_blank">family counseling.</a></strong> When appropriate, CCC also refers clients to a psychiatrist, who can provide <strong>medication management for dually diagnosed individuals</strong>. For clients with special needs, or who find it challenging to navigate daily life, community support workers can be assigned to help with basic life skills, such as budgeting and hygiene.</p> <p>Substance abuse services are supplemented by Community Psychiatric Supportive Treatment Services for those involved in the legal system, as well as for those struggling with social security, housing, and/or unemployment. </p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>According to the CCC’s website, staff includes psychiatrists, addiction medicine consultants, a registered nurse, and several master’s level social workers and counselors. All substance abuse <a href="https://www.samhsa.gov/data/sites/default/files/report_3059/ShortReport-3059.pdf" target="_blank">treatment centers</a> in Ohio have continuing education requirements for staff. The single alum polled by Rehabs.com to date provided a five-star rating for the staff's level of training and experience.</p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>The single alum polled by Rehabs.com to date would strongly recommend treatment at CCC. This alum, G.H., gave the facility five out of five stars for the overall effectiveness of its treatment, its treatment for <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/" target="_blank">co-occurring disorders</a>, and its counseling options. “Truly a team based approach. Feel as if one is cared about,” the alum wrote. This former client also provided above-average ratings for the center’s medication-assisted treatment, family counseling, and education about addiction. In her sole criticism, G.H. remarked, "Not always willing to work with clients."</p> <p>On Google, four alumni gave the facility an average rating of 3.5 out of five stars to date.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small> T.B. referred to the treatment as "well-rounded" and added: "They actually listen to the client and develop a treatment plan specific to their individual needs, including counseling, psychiatry, group therapy, anger management, etc." On the other hand, the unsatisfied alum felt staff was rude.</p> <p>The facility earned a similar rating of <strong>3.4 out of five stars</strong> to date from five users on its Facebook page, which it has the ability to monitor.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-2"><sup>[2]</sup></a></small> On the positive side, alum C.S. was "moved by the presentations, the paths to recovery and the community support," and R.M.S. appreciated how the counselors took "the time to listen and explain if you don’t understand anything." Negative reviews made note of short staffing and difficulty scheduling appointments.</p> <p><strong>WHAT STAFF SAY</strong></p> <p>While Rehabs.com had yet to receive feedback from facility staff at the time of this writing, 42 current and former staff members produced a <strong>3.7 out of five-star average</strong> rating on Indeed.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-3"><sup>[3]</sup></a></small> Those who were dissatisfied with their experience noted high-turnover rates, and one representative reviewer wrote, "Clients try to overrun the staff and there are no repercussions for the bad behavior."
