<p><strong>ABOUT SOLSTICE EAST</strong></p> <p>Set on 25 acres of land in the lush woods and hills north of Asheville, North Carolina, Solstice East offers <strong>residential treatment to adolescent girls</strong> aged 14 to 18, who are struggling with trauma, loss, grief, substance use disorder, mental health problems, or <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/" target="_blank">co-occurring disorders</a>. It's one of only 123 treatment facilities in North Carolina (just <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/NC17.pdf" target="_blank">26 percent</a> of all facilities in the state) to provide treatment tailored to teens.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>Solstice East is among the <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/NC17.pdf" target="_blank">37 percent</a> of North Carolina treatment centers to offer specialized programming for clients who have experienced <strong>trauma</strong>. Residents sleep in a <strong>rustic, wood-paneled lodge</strong> with common areas, a fireplace, and a deck offering views of a pond. Bedrooms are <strong>dorm-style</strong>, with bunk beds. She awarded the facility four or five out of five stars for its family participation, it connectivity, its administrative and discharge procedures, and its treatment of co-occurring disorders. "Qualified staff/ therapists, approachable staff, family-centered, girls do community work," she wrote.
