ABOUT CROSSROADS RESCUE MISSION

Located in Shelby, N.C., around 45 miles west of Charlotte, Crossroads Rescue Mission is a Christian-based, long-term residential recovery center for men struggling with addiction. Treatment is available to residents of Shelby, Gastonia, and the surrounding areas. Detox services are not available on-site.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Intake begins with a phone interview, which is followed by an in-person interview. Crossroads Rescue Mission aims to treat the whole individual, addressing the spiritual, educational, emotional, physical, social, and vocational elements of addiction.

The faith-based program unfolds in three phases; in phase one, which lasts 90 days, residents participate in daily chapel services, complete tasks, and attend classes about recovery and the Christian faith. According to a 2017 SAMHSA survey, 60 non-hospital facilities in North Carolina (12.7 percent of all rehabs in the state) offer a long-term (30 days or longer) residential treatment program.

The second phase is a six-month study program called "The Sons of God." Through rigorous study, phase-two clients complete the equivalent of the first year of studies at a Bible college while also working to welcome new residents. In phase three, which functions as aftercare, clients prepare for independent life through training in financial planning, family life, job skills, and continuing education.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Though the facility's website does not provide any information regarding its staff's credentials, the single individual polled by Rehabs.com to date rated the staff's level of training and experience five out of five stars.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

The Crossroads Rescue Mission is located in the lush, green scenery of rural North Carolina. The facility has 50 beds, nearly twice the number of average number of designated beds (29) at residential rehab facilities in North Carolina.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Rehabs.com has not yet received any reviews directly from alumni of the program. However, secondary review sites yielded mostly positive feedback at the time of this writing. On the facility's unofficial Facebook page, Crossroads Rescue Mission earned five-star ratings from all six of the alumni who left reviews.[1] On Google, 15 reviewers contributed to an average rating of 3.9 out of five stars.[2]

Numerous reviewers credited Crossroads Rescue Mission with "getting their lives back on track," while many others praised the center's Christian focus and described the center as welcoming. "What I found there was the unmovable force of Gods Love," Gerald wrote in one representative review on Google.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The single loved one polled by Rehabs.com to date, A.P.J., gave an overall positive review and reported they'd be highly likely to recommend the program to others. In particular, A.P.J. praised the center's "support system" and noted that their loved one had "Several positive experience and benefits."

The reviewer gave the facility five stars for its treatment effectiveness, meals and nutrition, accommodations and amenities, faith-based programming, and the affordability of treatment; four stars for the cleanliness and maintenance of the facility; and three stars for its family participation and exercise and leisure options.

However, A.P.J. gave only two stars for the program's counseling options, 12-step facilitation, and treatment for co-occurring disorders, as well as one star for its holistic offerings.

WHAT STAFF SAY

Though Rehabs.com has yet to receive any feedback from the facility's staff, six former and current employees on Indeed gave mostly positive reviews of aspects of the facility directly related to client experience.[3] "This is a very compassionate group of loving Christians. They are dedicated to changing the lives of men and women who have been addicted to drugs and alcohol," one employee wrote in a representative review.

FINANCING

There's a $60 registration fee, though no client is turned away if they're unable to pay. Treatment is offered for free until clients have secured employment, at which point they're required to pay a portion of their wages toward their rent and treatment. According to a 2017 SAMHSA survey, 44.5 percent of rehabs in North Carolina offer treatment at no charge for clients who canβt pay.

[1] https://www.facebook.com/pages/CrossRoads-Rescue-Mission/104192552980275?hcref=ARQLIgobqaN4plgElNVqRGMvlZUg0SC5BZkmFuZdfP-N3c2tHVQGGg1dPU0W7vRZmU
[2] GoogleReviews
[3] https://www.indeed.com/cmp/Crossroads-Rescue-Mission/reviews?fcountry=US&floc=Shelby%2C+NC
