ABOUT HOUSE OF PRAYER – ALCOHOLIC’S HOME, INC.

In a quiet, wooded area just over 15 miles outside of Greensboro, the House of Prayer – Alcoholic's Home Inc. offers long-term, residential treatment for adult men struggling with substance use disorder. The program is Christian and non-denominational, and counts among the 208 facilities in North Carolina with dedicated programming for adult men. It's also among the 39.7 percent of rehabs in the state that operates as a private nonprofit. Detox services are not available on-site, and all clients must be medically stable and drug and alcohol-free upon admission. Note: the center is not wheelchair accessible.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

All clients must have an interview either in person or on the phone in order to be considered for admission. They must also be able to successfully pass a drug test and show a true desire for recovery to be admitted. Clients must also be willing to participate in the Christ-centered teaching of the church and work around the home or campus to help support the ministry. Treatment is long-term, and clients must commit to a minimum of 90 days, though often stay longer.

The facility prefers clients not to be on any kind of medication (particularly antidepressants), but If necessary, they must bring their own supply along with a written doctor’s report and signature. Any court dates or other legal problems clients may be facing must be taken care of before entering the program.

The website offers little information on the daily activities of the program; however, reviews indicate that treatment mostly revolves around church attendance, Bible study, and similar faith-based activities.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The facility is led by an executive director and pastor with 16 years of experience as a pastor. The team is rounded-out by an occupational therapist and two house managers. The sole individual polled by Rehabs.com to date on the level of staff support available at the facility rated it five out of five stars.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Images on House of Prayer’s website show a modest, low-level home with a TV room, a canteen-style common area with a vending machine, and a chapel on-site. Clients share simple bedrooms. The facility also features a chicken run, a woodwork shop, and extensive grounds. A picture of a van is shown, suggesting transportation is available. All clients are required to have short hair and be clean shaven at all times.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

House of Prayer received polarized feedback from the two alumni polled by Rehabs.com to date. “Its a group working together, praying together and all pulling their weight," wrote D.C.H., who gave five-star ratings for overall treatment effectiveness, accommodations and amenities, and meals and nutrition.

But the other alum, S.A.S., gave the facility just one out of five stars for its treatment effectiveness and wrote: "This Director has no business running a facility because he is abusing it in every way."

On secondary sites, House of Prayer has overwhelmingly positive feedback, with a 4.8 out of five-star average rating based on 75 reviews on Facebook (where the facility can manage its own page) and a single five-star rating on Google.[1] [2] The reviewers repeatedly thanked the facility for changing their lives, praised the faith-based programming, and stressed how present they felt God was at the facility: "It totally changed my life and and I learned more there in 10 months than I could have in 4 yrs. of seminary college. I'll be forever thankful and grateful," Frank wrote in a typical comment on Facebook.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

K.H.L., the single loved one polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing, offered House of Prayer positive feedback, giving the facility five out of five stars for its treatment effectiveness, its counseling options, its staff support, and its family involvement. “We were invited to attend church services and lunch on Sundays,” they wrote.

FINANCING

Treatment costs $1,000 per month for those clients with some form of income, and $500 per month for those without an income. The single individual polled by Rehabs.com to date on the center's pricing gave it five out of five stars.

[1] https://www.facebook.com/pg/House-of-Prayer-232904690038/reviews/?ref=page_internal
[2] GoogleReviews
