Editorial Review

ABOUT CHARLOTTE RESCUE MISSION - REBOUND

Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, Charlotte Rescue Mission offers a range of treatment services to individuals struggling with homelessness and/or substance use disorder. It's a private non-profit, which make up about 40 percent of all treatment facilities in state. Focused on sustained sobriety and self-sufficiency, Rebound is a faith-based program that provides long-term residential treatment to adult men. Detox services are not available on-site, and all clients must be able to pass a breathalyzer and urine drug test prior to being admitted.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Rebound is one of 78 non-hospital treatment facilities in North Carolina (just 16 percent) to offer a long-term program that last more than 30 days. To be admitted, clients must commit to at least 120 days in the program.

Treatment relies on the 12-step model of recovery in the context of Christian principles and philosophies. The first 30 days involve intensive counseling, 12-step work, and educational classes, along with Bible study classes, worship services, and spiritual classes.

The following 90 days incorporate training and instruction to promote self-sufficiency upon discharge. While continuing to participate in counseling and education classes, clients also receive vocational and life skills training, as well as educational development classes.

Once a client completes the 120-day program, they may choose to continue into a 90-day extended care program for ongoing life skills development and vocational training. They may also transition into Rebound’s sober living facility, which requires clients to attend 12-step meetings, participate in group counseling sessions, attend church, and obtain employment.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Led by a program director, Rebound employs a team of licensed substance abuse counselors, nurses, and facility technicians. The facility also operates with the support of volunteers, who may be clergy or individuals familiar with the recovery process and the 12 Steps.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

According to the facility’s website, Rebound provides food, clothing, and shelter to program participants.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

All four former clients surveyed by Rehabs.com to date gave the facility mostly positive feedback. Jerry, a male between the ages of 40 and 59 who went to Rebound based on a doctor's recommendation, gave the program four or five out of five stars for its staff support, its exercise and leisure activities, its cleanliness, its frequency and consistency of meetings, and its overall quality of group counseling. His one complaint was that the accommodations could have been better.

The other three alumni polled by Rehabs.com praised the program for it's spiritual foundation, and both Lissa and Sherry described it as life-saving.

The Charlotte Rescue Mission as a whole also received positive feedback on secondary sites. It earned average ratings of 4.3 out of five stars based on 13 Google reviews[1] and 4.7 out of five stars based on 284 Facebook reviews[2] (which the organization has the ability to edit). "I tell anyone and everyone, Charlotte rescue mission, the program called Rebound. Has given me a second Chance in life, and everything that I have in my life today," Thomas told Facebook in a representative review.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

At the time of this writing, Rehabs.com has received one review from a loved one. Unlike the majority of alumni feedback, the review was very negative.

The loved one gave the facility just one out of five stars in all categories evaluated, including family participation, counseling options, exercise and leisure activities, administrative and discharge procedures, and the staff's level of training and experience. The loved one wrote that the facility was "just a place for addicts to score."

FINANCING

Charlotte Rescue Mission relies on private donations to support the Rebound program. Clients receive treatment free of cost. The mission is one of just 14 facilities in North Carolina to offer free treatment, which make up about three percent of all facilities in the state.

[1] GoogleReviews
[2] https://www.facebook.com/pg/cltrescue/reviews/?ref=page_internal
