ABOUT A TURNING POINT

A Turning Point Counseling (ATPC) in Charlotte, N.C. is one of North Carolina’s 398 outpatient treatment facilities. It provides outpatient services for clients facing personal, professional, and legal challenges related to drug and alcohol use. DWI assessments, individual counseling, group therapy and education sessions are among the most commonly accessed ATPC programs. This facility prioritizes affordable and culturally appropriate treatment, with classes offered in Spanish and English.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The treatment process at ATPC focuses on educating clients about addiction and the legal ramifications of it. Most of the programs focus on DUI/DWI legal requirements, making ATPC one of North Carolina’s 144 facilities with DUI/DWI programs.

Most clients begin their treatment at A Turning Point Counseling with a DWI assessment. Clients should expect this service to take about 40 minutes. The results are used to determine which type and level of treatment are appropriate for each individual.

All ATPC programming follows the Prime for Life curriculum. This evidence-based, motivational approach prioritizes intervention and prevention, focusing on assisting individuals who are exhibiting high-risk behaviors.

The least intensive level of programming offered at this facility is the Alcohol and Drug Education Traffic School (ADETS), which consists of 16 hours of sessions. These can be completed in a series of three-hour group meetings and completed within one week. Clients with more advanced addiction or facing greater consequences for their substance abuse will be directed toward a short-term treatment program incorporating 20 hours of counseling over a minimum of 30 days, intermediate treatment with twice the number of hours and days, or an intensive outpatient program (IOP).

The 90-day IOP meets at least three days per week for three hours each. If a DWI assessment indicates that residential treatment is necessary, ATPC can provide referrals to another rehab or agency, followed by 90 days of outpatient continuing care.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Rehabs.com has yet to receive alumni feedback to date, however, on Google reviews, A Turning Point Counseling & Consulting earned two five out of five-star reviews to date.[1] Only one alum provided written feedback about the ADETS DWI program, writing “ the cheapest, easiest way to get thru your ADETS DWI assessment and classes! Saved me a lot of time and hundreds of dollars after going to a shady money hungry, high priced dwi assessment place that the lawyers refer you to.”

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

At the time of this writing, the single loved one polled by Rehabs.com about A Turning Point Counseling gave a mixed review. While identifying the facility's communication as a strength and rating the effectiveness of treatment four stars out of five, they gave only one out of five stars for its holistic offerings and counseling options. The loved one gave two stars for the level of staff experience. In contrast to the facility's emphasis, the loved one indicated that they found treatment was not affordable, giving this a two out of five star-rating.

FINANCING

A Turning Point Counseling works with clients to arrange payment plans. The relatively low costs of counseling and educational sessions are noted repeatedly on the ATPC website.

[1] GoogleReviews
