<p><strong>ABOUT FREEDOM HOUSE RECOVERY CENTER</strong></p> <p>Based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Freedom House Recovery Center has provided substance abuse treatment and recovery services to <strong>children, adolescents, and adults</strong> since 1974. Through various locations in the state, the facility offers outpatient treatment, <a href="https://www.rehabs.com/listings/freedom-house-recovery-center-person-counseling-center-3750145341/" target="_blank">counseling centers</a>, <a href="https://www.rehabs.com/listings/freedom-house-recovery-center-transitional-living-program-1449098550/" target="_blank">transitional living</a>, and <a href="https://www.rehabs.com/listings/freedom-house-recovery-center-durham-men-s-halfway-house-1696809586/" target="_blank">men’s</a> and <a href="https://www.rehabs.com/listings/freedom-house-recovery-center-francis-street-women-s-house-4098327630/" target="_blank">women’s</a> halfway houses, as well as <strong>medically monitored detox</strong>. There is also a <strong>crisis unit</strong> offering 23-hour observation to assess an individual’s level of care needed, in addition to <strong>mobile crisis teams</strong> that travel to rural and impoverished areas of the state. Community intervention services and telepsychiatry are also available to clients in remote areas via video conferencing.</p> <p>Residential treatment begins with a psychiatric evaluation and, if necessary, social detoxification with medical supervision. This is followed by <strong>up to six months in a gender-specific halfway house.</strong> Freedom House is <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/NC16.pdf" target="_blank">one of 78 treatment facilities in North Carolina</a> (just 16 percent) to offer a non-hospital residential program that lasts longer than 30 days. Clients with <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/" target="_blank">co-occurring disorders</a> receive simultaneous treatment, including <strong>medical management</strong>.</p> <p>Freedom House's <strong>child and adolescent outpatient clinics</strong> provide services both for children who have a mental illness or substance abuse disorder, as well as for children who have a parent struggling with one or both of these diagnoses. Intervention and in-home services are available for children.</p> <p>All treatment programs incorporate <strong>peer support</strong>. Some facilities feature <strong>art and play therapy</strong>, individual and <a href="https://www.recovery.org/pro/articles/the-pain-of-addiction-in-the-family-how-counseling-can-help/" target="_blank">family counseling</a>, nature outings, <strong>parent training</strong>, education, employment and housing support, and case management services.</p> <p>Free counseling services are available for uninsured clients in Orange, Durham, Chatham, and Person counties. This includes up to eight sessions with a pro bono therapist.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>According to the facility’s website, there are <strong>more than 200 Freedom House employees</strong>, including licensed clinicians, nurse practitioners, <strong>psychiatric nurse practitioners</strong>, physician assistants, and psychiatrists. </p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>Residential housing for men and women is located in Chapel Hill and Durham. The main campus is across the road from Homestead Park.</p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>Freedom House received mostly positive feedback from former clients.
