<p><strong>ABOUT THE STEP HOUSE, LLC.</strong></p> <p>Located in Alamogordo, N.M., the Step House is a <strong>long-term residential treatment program for men</strong> struggling with substance use disorder. Detox services are not provided onsite, and mood-altering medications, including antidepressants, are not permitted while in treatment.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>Clients must commit to <strong>at least one year</strong> in the program in order to be admitted. They are also required to <strong>find employment within 10 days of arrival</strong> (transportation services to and from work are provided). </p> <p>Treatment is <strong>12-step based</strong> and follows a <strong>social recovery model</strong>. All residents must find sponsors, work the steps, and attend at least <strong>one 12-step meeting a day</strong>, as well as participate in service commitments as assigned by their sponsor or house manager. They are also given <strong>daily chores</strong> and must work together to prepare meals.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its treatment staff. The one loved one polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing noted: "I personally know the people who run the rehab they are caring people who are genuinely trying to make a difference. Keeping a stronger hold on pepole who are shortly leaving this rehab I would say would be one of the only things I can see that may need a little more work."</p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>The <strong>highly-structured</strong> program requires residents to wake up each morning at 5 a.m. and be back at the facility for a 7 p.m. curfew (special arrangements can be made for clients who work evenings). Visitation is not allowed until each client has been in the program for at least 30 days. When asked, on a scale from one to five, if they would recommend the facility, D.S. gave a rating of four.</p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>According to the Step House's website and online application, there is a nonrefundable <strong>$250 admittance fee</strong>.
