<p><strong>ABOUT NEW HORIZON TREATMENT SERVICES</strong></p> <p>Located in Trenton, N.J., New Horizon Treatment Services (NHTS) runs recovery treatment programs for adults faced with <strong>issues of substance use and psychiatric disorders</strong>. Featuring highly individualized care, various programs address <strong>opioid abuse,</strong> <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/" target="_blank"><strong>co-occurring disorders</strong></a><strong>, and court-related convictions</strong>. Detoxification services are available on-site along with outpatient, intensive outpatient, and partial care services.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>According to New Horizon’s website, upon completion of a thorough intake process, clients are directed to one of <strong>four unique treatment programs</strong>: the Opioid Treatment Program, the Special Services Program, the Mental Health Program, or the Criminal Justice Program. </p> <p>Featuring ongoing support from a medical staff, the Opioid Treatment Program provides <strong>medication assisted treatment (MAT) options</strong>, which may include a methadone or Suboxone regimen. Clients are also assigned an individual counselor and may partake in other addiction groups and psychiatric services, when appropriate. This facility is among the <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/NJ16.pdf" target="_blank">26.7 percent of facilities</a> in the state to provide a Suboxone regimen.</p> <p>The Special Services Program, geared towards those with co-occurring disorders, consists of various counseling groups focused on <strong>relapse prevention, stress reduction techniques</strong>, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and more. Featuring similar services, those with anxiety, grief, depression, and other mental health issues may benefit from the Mental Health Program.</p> <p>In collaboration with local and federal court systems, the Criminal Justice Program runs a <strong>medically-assisted jail recovery program</strong> and assists those with DUI convictions, anger management, and domestic violence issues.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>Under the guidance of a Psy.D., New Horizon consists of a team of licensed social workers, certified alcohol and drug counselors, licensed practical nurses, and interns.</p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>Although Rehabs.com has yet to receive alumni feedback, the 12 people who left reviews of New Horizon on Google at the time of this writing rated the facility an average 3.3 out of five stars. Individuals reported <strong>effective treatment programs</strong>, and many credited the facility with saving their lives.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small></p> <p><strong>WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY</strong></p> <p>The three anonymous loved ones polled by Rehabs.com to date applauded the “effectiveness” of the staff and counselors and the flexible programs at New Horizons. However, a loved one felt the facility itself was dirty and another noted its questionable location. “I believe it was too expensive and difficult to get into. If it was not for family support I do not beleiev he would of received treatment,” one added.</p> <p>Out of of five stars, the three loved ones offered ratings of one star, two stars and fours stars for the level of family participation. However, two loved ones awarded prefect five-star ratings for the facility's ability to treat co-occurring disorders. The survey respondents gave ratings of three stars, four stars, and five stars for the staff's level of experience and training. </p> <p><strong>WHAT STAFF SAY</strong></p> <p>On Glassdoor, a current employee and former counselor both rated New Horizon three out of five stars. The reviewers praised the educational opportunities and experience offered by New Horizon but criticized its heavy caseload and poor compensation.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-2"><sup>[2]</sup></a></small></p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>Self-paying clients who print the admissions page from New Horizon's website may receive 20 percent off their intake.
