<p><strong>ABOUT HACKENSACK UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER MOUNTAINSIDE HOSPITAL - BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES</strong></p> <p>Located in Montclair, N.J., Mountainside Hospital’s Behavioral Health Services is an affiliate of Hackensack University. The behavioral health program provides <strong>counseling, therapy, and relief for individuals faced with various substance abuse and mental health disorders</strong>. </p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>According to Mountainside Hospital’s website, individuals seeking treatment for chemical dependency receive <strong>counseling and attend therapy sessions.</strong> People with any number of mental health disorders are cared for by board-certified psychiatrists.</p> <p>The behavioral health program’s treatment team has experience helping people with a different types of mental disorders including depression, schizophrenia, ADHD, paranoia, bipolar disorder, manic depressive disorder, and more.</p> <p>The center helps people of all ages, backgrounds, and ethnicities. The center’s website claims more than 90 percent of the clients are satisfied with treatment.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>The facility’s website notes the multidisciplinary treatment staff consists of <strong>board-certified psychiatrists</strong> and other professionals trained to “provide relief for patients and their families at times when mental illness, emotional difficulties, addiction or other issues arise.” Two individuals polled on the staff's level of training and experience at time of writing gave a low one out of five stars and a mixed three-star rating. </p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>There is currently no information provided by the hospital regarding its living arrangements and related offerings. Despite this, the three individuals surveyed by Rehabs.com to date gave four- and five- out of five stars for the hospital’s accommodations and for its quality of meals.</p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>The two former clients polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing shared mixed feedback.</p> <p>Rhonda, one alum, felt that treatment was geared “more toward mental illness than addiction” and described her therapist as “excellent.” The other alum, who decided to remain anonymous, was disappointed by their psychiatrist, as they never discovered the meaning of their blotter test results.</p> <p>The hospital (across its many departments and services) also received a mixed reviews and a rating of 2.8 out of five stars from nine Google reviewers at the time of this writing.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small> </p> <p>On the facility's Facebook page, which it can manage, there was an average rating of 4.2 stars averaged from a total of 375 reviews. 252 reviews were perfect five-star reviews, while the others were mainly either good four-star or low one-star reviews. It is important to note that, like with the facility's Google reviews, these reviews are for the hospital as a whole, and not specifically its behavioral health services. </p> <p><strong>WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY</strong></p> <p>The one loved one polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing provided a mostly positive review of Mountainside Hospital’s Behavioral Health services. The family member gave the center four out of five stars for treatment effectiveness and when asked if they would recommend the facility.</p> <p>They gave the center three stars for the staff’s level of experience and training and for its treatment of <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/" target="_blank">co-occurring disorders</a>. And though the loved one felt treatment was costly, he or she summed up the alum's experience as “very good.”</p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>According to Mountainside Hospital’s website, the center accepts an extensive list of private insurance plans including Cigna Behavioral Health, Aetna, United Healthcare, and more.
