<p><strong>ABOUT FAMILIES IN TRANSITION- FAMILY WILLOWS IOP- MANCHESTER, NH</strong></p> <p>Families In Transition - Family Willows IOP, located in Manchester, NH, offers an <strong>intensive outpatient program (IOP) for single, pregnant, and parenting women struggling with substance abuse</strong>. It is one of the only <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/NH17.pdf" target="_blank">32 (47.8 percent)</a> programs in the state to provide <a href="https://www.recovery.org/pro/articles/reclaiming-the-feminine-in-recovery/" target="_blank">female-centered programming,</a> and is additionally amongst the only <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/NH17.pdf" target="_blank">17 (25.4 percent)</a> New Hampshire facilities with aid for pregnant and postpartum women. </p> <p>Families in Transition is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 1991 as a response to the increasing number of homeless families in the community. The organization has grown to provide housing and social services to over 600 individuals and substance abuse treatment to over 200 women at Family Willows in 2016. </p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>The facility’s treatment program follows <strong>evidence-based practices</strong> while providing treatment for substance use disorder, mental illness, and trauma. IOP treatment is divided into <strong>two phases</strong> to better assist clients through the recovery process. </p> <p>During the first phase of treatment, clients attend morning or afternoon sessions three days per week for three hours each. Clients receive both <strong>individual therapy and weekly case management sessions</strong> to address their individual needs.</p> <p>The second phase of treatment is a step-down to two days per week of three-hour sessions each in either the morning or afternoon. This phase focuses on <strong>maintaining recovery and building skills</strong> to maintain a healthy lifestyle and overall wellness. Clients remain in this phase of treatment anywhere from <strong>four weeks to four months</strong>. </p> <p><strong>Childcare and transportation</strong> are both available, free of charge, to program participants as needed when they live within Manchester and based on program eligibility. Participants and their families may also receive <strong>health services</strong> through the organization’s Mobile Community Health Team clinic. Alumni support and <strong>12-step programming</strong> are available to clients who have successfully completed treatment.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>The treatment team includes master’s degree social workers, alcohol and drug counselors, case managers, therapists, and other recovery support workers. Additionally, the single alum polled by Rehabs.com to date provided a four-star rating for the center staff's level of experience and training.</p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>At the time of this writing, the sole alum polled by Rehabs.com expressed an overall favorable experience with Families in Transition, and strongly agreed she would recommend the facility to friends or family members considering treatment. The anonymous client gave the facility three out of five stars for treatment effectiveness, five stars for accommodations and amenities, and two stars for meals and nutrition. </p> <p>Offering four or five-star ratings for each metric, she also agreed that there are many counseling options to choose from based on the client’s preferences, and agreed that the facility is equipped to treat co-occurring mental health problems in addition to substance use disorders. She felt that a strength of the facility was that they were able to help her through her struggle, but felt that the facility could improve upon the number of people in each group. She also added that “I really enjoyed what they did for me.”</p> <p>On the facility’s Facebook page, which it can manage, there is an overall rating of <strong>4.5 out of five stars</strong> based on 49 total reviews.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small> The reviews are overwhelmingly positive, although there are a few outliers, with 42 out of 49 reviewers leaving five-star reviews. Staff member K.G., who gave five stars, noted that the facility has not only helped a lot of families, but also benefits the local community. She wrote “I definitely plan on coming back again in the fall to volunteer whenever I am able.” </p> <p>D.L, a loved one, did not agree with that viewpoint. She gave two stars and commented that although housing at the facility is a viable option for those in need, their waiting list is long and personal belongings are at risk of theft.
