<p><strong>ABOUT THE FRIENDSHIP HOUSE</strong></p> <p>Located in Bethlehem, N.H., The Friendship House is a service of the state's Division of Alcohol and Other Drug Services, providing <strong>a full continuum of treatment programs</strong> for individuals struggling with substance abuse. Friendship House provides a <strong>short-term residential program</strong>, intensive outpatient programs (IOP), and transitional housing, as well as specialized program for DUI offenders. </p> <p>If necessary, the facility also provides stabilization services, which may include <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/drug-and-alcohol-detoxification-process/" target="_blank">medically-supervised detoxification</a>. It is one of only five residential facilities in New Hampshire to offer <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/NH17.pdf" target="_blank">non-hospital detox services.</a></p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>To determine an appropriate level of care, clients first participate in an initial substance abuse assessment. If a client requires supervision and a highly-structured schedule of treatment is acquire and maintain sobriety, the individual may be referred to the facility’s residential program, which <strong>typically lasts approximately 28 days</strong>.</p> <p>According to the facility's website, the residential program, which is referred to as the Clinically Managed High Intensity Residential Treatment (CMHIRT), focuses on the "onset, progression and neurochemistry of Addiction." During residential treatment, clients participate in a highly-structured schedule of <strong>individual, group, and family counseling sessions</strong>. In addition, clients may attend educational sessions on relapse prevention, improving coping skills, developing peer-based support networks, and trigger avoidance.</p> <p>The intensive outpatient program (IOP) follows the same programming approach as residential treatment, and IOP may be utilized as a “step-down” <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/extended-recovery-programs/" target="_blank">aftercare service</a> for discharged residential clients. To provide additional support and extended care, clients may also enroll into the <strong>Transitional Living Program (TLP)</strong>. The goal of the program is to provide support as the resident prepares for self-sufficiency, and the <strong>average length of stay is 90 days or less</strong>.</p> <p>Friendship Home also facilitates an Impaired Driver Care Management Program, which <strong>satisfies the state's requirements for relicensure</strong>. The program involves a comprehensive assessment to determine appropriate treatment, education, and/or recovery support services. However, out of five stars, the two individuals polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave the facility's accommodations ratings of three stars and five stars. </p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>The one alum polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing was overall critical of the facility, offering ratings of two out of five stars for the facility's inclusion of holistic treatment methods, the level of family participation, and the amount of communication with loved ones during treatment. "I was not pleased with this facility. It was somewhat clean, but had bad exercise and leisure options," the alum wrote. </p> <p>Secondary sources revealed mixes opinions of the facility. On Google reviews, six reviewers gave an average rating of 3.5 stars. <small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small> "I can't say enough great things about this place and the services it provides," Sharyn, a representative reviewer, wrote along with a five star review. Susan on the other hand gave a rating of only one star and complained about the coed nature of the facility.</p> <p>The sole review on Citehealth agreed with the more positive assessments. <small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-2"><sup>[2]</sup></a></small> "Wonderful experience with a top of the line staff and an extremely serene environment," the anonymous alum wrote. </p> <p><strong>WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY</strong></p> <p>The sole loved one polled by Rehabs.com felt the facility's accommodations and meals were superb, offering perfect five-star ratings for both survey metrics. "Meals and accomodations were good," the loved one wrote. However, they offered a more moderate three-star rating for the facility's overall effectiveness. </p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>According to the facility's website, treatment services are offered on a <strong>sliding fee scale</strong>, based on the client's ability to pay.
