<p><strong>ABOUT SOUTHEAST MISSOURI BEHAVIORAL HEALTH – SALEM CENTER</strong></p> <p>Southeast Missouri Behavioral Health, Inc. (SEMO-BH) is a nonprofit organization that has provided <strong>substance use and co-occurring mental health treatment services</strong> in southeastern Missouri for more than 30 years. Today, the nonprofit’s Salem location is host to one of the agency’s three <strong>crisis stabilization programs</strong> and a variety of social services. <a href="https://www.recovery.org/topics/medication-assisted-treatment/" target="_blank">Medication-assisted treatment (MAT)</a>, such as Suboxone, is available through physicians in the community.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>SEMO-BH admits clients 24 hours per day, seven days per week including holidays. The crisis stabilization program offers <strong>highly individualized treatment plans</strong> and has three major treatment objectives: to disrupt the destructive cycle of abuse, to break through the denial of the problem, and to educate clients about the various areas of impact that substance use has had on their lives.</p> <p><strong>Family programming</strong> is encouraged and consists of therapy as well as educational classes on parenting skills, mental health education, and family issues. Other services include referrals to AA and NA programs, transitional and supportive housing, and <strong>case management services</strong>.</p> <p>SEMO-BH offers social services such as a federal prison initiative, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and a <strong>pre-divorce education program</strong> called “Children First.”</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>According to the facility's website, SEMO-BH employs "a group of highly trained and skilled professionals," which may include medical staff, substance use counseling specialists, and case managers. To date, the four individuals polled by Rehabs.com on the matter felt the staff was adequately experienced and trained.</p> <blockquote> <p>Staff level of experience and training: 3.5/5</p> </blockquote> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>There is currently no information provided on the facility's website regarding its living arrangements and related offerings, however, the five individuals polled by Rehabs.com to date felt the facility was generally clean and well-maintained.</p> <blockquote> <p>Overall cleanliness and upkeep of facility: 4/5</p> </blockquote> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>Each of the three alumni polled by Rehabs.com to date shared what they considered to be strengths and weaknesses of the facility; the two alumni polled on the matter indicated that they’d recommend the program to others. They also gave four-star ratings for the facility's counseling option, though one-star ratings for its holistic offerings. </p> <p>One felt that they needed more than 30 days for a successful recovery, but appreciated that many staff members had similar challenges and were therefore easy to relate to. Alum Heather felt the staff was “discourteous” staff but nevertheless wrote: “It was a good place for real.”</p> <p>SEMO-BH also has an average rating of 3.0 out of five stars based on seven Google reviews, though <strong>feedback was mixed</strong>: about half found the staff caring and treatment effective while others were disappointed.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small></p> <p><strong>WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY</strong></p> <p>The sole loved one to have completed a Rehabs.com survey, an anonymous wife of a former client, wrote: “it was awful my husband went straight back to drinking.”</p> <p><strong>WHAT STAFF SAY</strong></p> <p>The single staff member polled by Rehabs.com indicated that, despite staff being caring and well-trained, the facility was not adequately staffed to treat clients.</p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>SEMO-BH accepts PPO and HMO insurance plans.
