The facility in the eponymous small city of Oxford provides an intensive outpatient program (IOP) for individuals struggling with chemical dependency and dual diagnosis.

The IOP can provide an entry into treatment, but it also commonly serves as step-down aftercare for graduates of Oxford Treatment Center’s residential program in Etta. IOP treatment is also offered in Olive Branch and Tupelo, Miss.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Oxford Treatment Center’s outpatient program blends evidence-based treatment modalities with 12-step participation. Clients meet three times a week, and while the length of the program may vary depending on client needs, the average length of the program is 10 weeks.

Core programming includes group counseling sessions and educational classes, which address issues such as coping skills, trigger avoidance, and relapse prevention. In addition, clients participate in one-on-one therapy, and family counseling is also highly encouraged. If applicable, an in-house medical staff is available to treat common co-occurring mental health issues associated with addiction, such as anxiety and depression.

During the outpatient program, clients are expected to remain active in the 12-Steps, which includes attending meetings, performing step work, and gaining a 12-step sponsor, with whom they're expected to continue to work once the program is complete. This continued 12-step participation serves as aftercare.

The Oxford IOP Center also offers a free weekly group, led by therapists, for anyone who has ever had a loved one experience addiction or recovery.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Oxford Treatment Center’s outpatient program employs an in-house medical team and credentialed therapists, some of whom are in recovery themselves. Rehabs.com polled five individuals on the level of staff support provided at the Oxford IOP center; the reviewers gave four five-star ratings and a one-star rating.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

There's a 48-bed transitional-living facility located next to the IOP center. Pictures published on Oxford Treatment Center's website show a modern home, with shared bedrooms, a full kitchen, and a comfy common area.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Of the three alumni reviews submitted to Rehabs.com to date, two were positive and one was mixed. The reviewers repeatedly praised the center's staff: "Great loving, hard working staff," Q.C. wrote. In addition, the two individuals polled on the overall quality of the Oxford IOP's individual and group counseling gave the facility four- and five-star ratings in each category. However, the center's holistic offerings gained just one star from both of the alumni polled on this metric.

The lukewarm reviewer, Mark, indicated that they would recommend treatment at this center, but that they had relapsed after treatment and had to detox on their own. "We do have a detox facility on our residential campus in Etta, MS. Patients there, who are detoxing, are monitored 24/7 by medical professionals," the facility wrote in response.

At the time of this writing, the Oxford IOP center had a 4.5-star average rating based on 11 reviews left on Google.[1] The single negative reviewer complained of a rude staff member answering the phone. Otherwise, the reviewers spoke in glowing terms, repeatedly praising the center's staff and even crediting the facility with saving their lives. "The Oxford treatment center opened my eyes up to a better life, after it saved my old one. I recommend this to any friend or anyone in active addiction that I come across," L.C. wrote in a representative review.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The four loved ones polled by Rehabs.com to date gave mixed feedback. Three of the four noted that they would recommend the Oxford IOP. However, each reviewer also raised a complaint or caveat to their praise: two of the four reviewers noted that their loved one had relapsed after treatment, another noted that it was difficult to get hold of their loved one or get information from the facility, and the fourth gave the facility one-star ratings in most of the evaluated treatment metrics, including its staff support, family program, and addiction and mental health treatment.

However, the two reviewers whose loved ones relapsed gave largely positive feedback nonetheless. "He was great when he came back. He chose to not change friends and fell back into it. The Rehab was great," one anonymous reviewer wrote in a representative review, giving the facility five stars in most of the evaluated treatment metrics, including its family involvement and the overall quality of its addiction and mental health treatment.

FINANCING

The center’s website indicates Oxford Treatment Center accepts numerous commercial insurance plans; Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi is mentioned in particular. Oxford Treatment Center is not Medicaid eligible.

[1] https://goo.gl/XLCV5E
