Its South Central Recovery Center offers a <strong>short-term residential program, medical detoxification, and aftercare</strong>.</p> <p>In addition, the facility provides outpatient-based services for individuals with primary mental health concerns. In Mississippi, South Central Regional Medical Center is <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/MS17.pdf" target="_blank">one of 12</a> hospital-based substance abuse treatment facilities that provides inpatient care.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>Chemical dependency clients, before beginning treatment, undergo an initial psychiatric and substance abuse history assessment to help clinicians identify treatment goals and form an appropriate plan of care. Utilizing <strong>evidence-based treatment methods and peer support</strong>, the hospital offers specialized treatments to support early recovery. </p> <p>At the South Central Recovery Center, patients who require detoxification receive <strong>medication-assisted treatment</strong> and 24-hour access to medical and nursing attention. The detoxification process typically lasts <strong>five to seven days</strong>. Clients who successfully complete primary treatment are encouraged to participate in the center’s <a href="https://www.recovery.org/topics/extended-recovery-programs/" target="_blank">aftercare group</a>, which meets once a week. </p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>South Central Regional Medical Center’s behavioral health staff comprises psychiatrists, physicians experienced in addiction medicine, psychiatric nurses, substance abuse counselors, and behavioral health technicians.</p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>The hospital’s alcohol and drug dependency facility, South Central Recovery Center, is located on the third floor of South Central Regional Medical Center. Patients stay in <strong>private bedrooms</strong> with access to <strong>comfortable communal rooms and a dining hall</strong>. According to its website, the facility “presents a relaxed and therapeutic environment, ensuring that the patient’s needs for privacy and safety are met.” Laundry is available on-site. Clients may receive visitors, pending staff approval, on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.</p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>Rehabs.com has yet to receive alumni reviews to date. On secondary site Google, South Central Regional Medical Center received <strong>largely negative coverage</strong> to date: 2.1 out of five stars based on 50 reviews. <small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small> Note that these <strong>ratings apply to the hospital as a whole</strong> rather than specifically to services for substance abuse and related disorders. </p> <p>As such, many of the reviewers referenced their experiences at the Emergency Room, which many deemed poorly operated and inefficient and the staff as incompetent and rude. Others complained about long waits and unclean conditions. The positive reviewers in this group reported satisfactory treatment and care. </p> <p><strong>WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY</strong></p> <p>At the time of this writing, the one loved one polled by Rehabs.com submitted mainly favorable feedback about South Central Regional Medical Center with certain exceptions and qualifications. For a series of survey metrics, this reviewer offered highly positive responses, including perfect five stars for affordability, facility cleanliness and upkeep, family participation, likelihood to recommend, staff experience and training, and treatment of co-occurring disorders; and four out of five stars for connectivity/visitor policy and counseling options. </p> <p>However, they deemed the program's holistic offerings to be a subpar two out of five stars. “They encourage family members to participate in the rehabs process,” they wrote, but added, “They can be fooled by the patient. The facility released my loved one too soon. Others criticized the rude and poor management team, limited opportunity to advance, and low pay. “South Central Regional Hospital is a very nice hospital to work at. Everyone is very friendly and educated,” a representative reviewer wrote. </p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>South Central Regional Medical Center accepts most private insurance plans, as well as <strong>Medicare and Medicaid</strong>.
