ABOUT DIVINE HOPE COUSELING

Located in the center of the small city of Willmar in central Minnesota, Divine Hope Counseling offers outpatient care at a variety of intensities for adults struggling with problematic substance use, as well as being one of the state's 182 (51.1 percent) facilities with a dual diagnosis track. The center is equipped to treat those struggling with traumatic brain injuries and learning difficulties as well as mental health disorders. The facility also accepts court-ordered clients, making it among the 26.2 percent of facilities in the state to offer services to criminal justice clients.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

In general, the program's ethos is holistic, and aims to help clients be active in their own recovery and within a sober community. Though both men and women are welcome at Divine Hope, they are treated in gender-specific settings.

There are two main treatment tracks: a Primary Program, which functions like an intensive outpatient program (IOP), requiring attendance at four three-hour sessions per week for five weeks, for a total of 60 hours; and a Continuing Care program, which requires two two-hour sessions a week for a total of 64 hours, or 16 weeks. A dedicated education program for the elderly is also offered on-site.

Individuals struggling with primary substance use problems and with dual diagnosis are treated on separate tracks, though on both pathways, treatment consists mainly of group sessions, plus one or two individual sessions per week. Individual family sessions are available on request.

Clients are encouraged to participate in support networks such as 12-step meetings, though these do not form the core of treatment.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Treatment is provided by licensed addiction counselors and a licensed clinical social worker. The single alum polled by Rehabs.com to date on the staff's level of training and experience provided a four out of five-star rating.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Both of the alumni polled by Rehabs.com to date would recommend treatment at Divine Hope Counseling. "Small groups trained employees," one anonymous reviewer wrote; the other reviewer described lively and engaging sessions, reporting to Rehabs.com, "I really liked it when the counselor in it would respond with a positive answer."

One of these former clients was polled on the facility's family participation, counseling options, and ability to treat co-occurring disorders, and gave them five, five, and four stars respectively. The other alum, who was polled on a different set of metrics, gave the center five stars for the overall quality of its individual and group counseling.

Secondary review sites yielded limited, mixed feedback at the time of this writing. Divine Hope Counseling had a single five-star rating on Facebook[1] and two one-star ratings on CiteHealth.[2] Both of the negative reviewers cited poor management. "Condescending, think they are above everyone. Don't practice what they preach," one reviewer wrote on CiteHealth. The single positive reviewer left no commentary to accompany their five-star review.

FINANCING

There is currently no information provided on the facility's website regarding its costs, however, the single alum polled by Rehabs.com to date on the center's affordability gave it five out of five stars.

[1] https://www.facebook.com/pages/Divine-Hope-Counseling/929559477107029

[2] http://citehealth.com/rehab-centers/minnesota/cities/willmar-city-in-kandiyohi-county/divine-hope-counseling#reviews
