JOHN PROVIDENCE — EASTWOOD CLINICS, ROYAL OAK</strong></p> <p>St. John Providence is a faith-based health system and, according to its website, the largest provider of inpatient care in southeast Michigan, with four hospitals and more than 125 medical centers across four counties, including <a href="http://www.rehabs.com/listings/st-john-providence-eastwood-clinics-3183919091/" target="_blank">a location in Rochester Hills.</a> Located 23 miles north of downtown Detroit, the Royal Oak facility offers <strong>outpatient treatment for substance abuse, mental health disorders, and process addictions</strong>. Residential treatment for substance abuse is available at the Eastwood Clinics’ location in Warren, Mich.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>Substance abuse treatment is offered at two intensities at the Royal Oak location. There is an <strong>intensive outpatient program (IOP)</strong>, which involves programming three to four days per week, and a <strong>general outpatient treatment program</strong>. It is one of just <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/MI16.pdf" target="_blank">36.5 percent</a> of centers in Michigan that offer<br /> intensive outpatient treatment. For both treatment tracks, the facility offers <strong>individual, group, and family counseling</strong>. The facility also treats eating disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders.</p> <p>Official facility materials make no mention of the 12-Steps or other treatment modalities,<br /> though the two individuals polled by Rehabs.com to date (one alum and one loved one) indicated that<br /> treatment was strongly rooted in the 12-Steps.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>According to the facility’s website, all Eastwood services are provided by <strong>licensed treatment professionals</strong>. The sole alum surveyed by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave the facility three out of five stars for its staff’s level of training and experience, while Doris, the one loved one surveyed to date, gave the facility five stars in the same category. “All staff are in recovery and been through rehabilitation and are active AA members,” she noted.</p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>The sole former client polled by Rehabs.com to date gave Royal Oak a positive review, awarding the facility mostly four and five out of five stars across 15 different evaluated metrics, including treatment effectiveness, exercise and leisure activities, cleanliness, 12-step programming, family participation, and treatment of <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/" target="_blank">co-occurring disorders</a>.</p> <p>On Facebook, Eastwood Clinics in general received an impressive average rating of five out of five stars from five reviewers, including one from Chris, who wrote: “This place saved my life, I wouldn't trade my time there for anything!”<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small></p> <p>On Google, the reviews were less positive. Six alumni rated the facility two out of five stars. While the facility did receive one four-star rating from David, who complimented the facility on its helpful groups, four respondents gave the Royal Oak location just one out of five stars.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-2"><sup>[2]</sup></a></small> In general, the negative reviews suggest that the staff was unprofessional.</p> <p><strong>WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY</strong></p> <p>Doris, the sole loved one surveyed by Rehabs.com to date, gave the facility a mostly positive review, describing the program as “very structured and well organized.” She awarded the center four and five out of five stars for its treatment effectiveness, the 12-step and faith-based program model, and level of family involvement. “Help is available to family members,” she wrote. She did, however, suggest that the facility was not large enough to accommodate all its clients’ needs.</p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>According to the organization’s website, Eastwood Clinics services are covered by most managed care plans (HMOs and PPOs), as well as Blue Cross Blue Shield and many other private insurances policies. Financial aid is available to clients who qualify.
