ABOUT GUEST HOUSE MEN’S TREATMENT PROGRAM

Founded in 1956, Guest House is a faith-based Catholic organization that offers information, education, treatment, and care for Catholic clergy, religious men and women, and seminarians who are struggling with substance abuse and other behavioral health issues. The organization offers gender-separate residential treatment for men and women, placing it amongst the 209 (45.8 percent) centers in the state with this offering.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The individualized residential program includes 12-step principles, as well as holistic options and a spiritual component.

The continuing care program is split into three phases: first, the resident shares his experience and commitment to recovery with significant people in his life; second, re-entry visits can be scheduled, to ease the transition back into community life; and finally, the center offers week-long continuing care courses at six, 12, and 18 months after discharge.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

According to the facility’s website, Guest House is licensed by the state and has a staff of licensed, certified clinical and spiritual professionals, though details of their credentials are not provided. A review submitted to Rehabs.com by a staff member at this facility indicated that the center employs two medical professionals, one on staff and one on a contract basis, and six mental health professionals, five of them on staff.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

The facility is set on a 105-acre retreat that includes common rooms, a dining area, and a chapel. Residents are housed in private suites. The men's facility can hold up to 16 clients at a time.

WHAT STAFF SAY

The single review submitted to Rehabs.com to date was positive. Staffer N.J. gave the center five out of five stars in all evaluated treatment metrics, including its honesty, willingness to put clients’ interests first, and the overall quality of its care. “Excellent recovery rate,” N.J. wrote, indicating that they had no concerns about the care provided at the facility, and that they would recommend treatment at this center.

Two staffers both gave five-star reviews on Indeed.[1] One wrote, “Guest House is a recovery center for Nuns and Priests. They are in program to recover from alcohol and drug abuse. This is a wonderful mission to return them to health so they can help many others with their concerns of life.” The other reviewer praised the staff and center's atmosphere.

On Google at the time of this writing, there was a single four-star rating with now written feedback.[2]

FINANCING

According to the facility’s website, “Treatment is provided without regard to a community’s ability to pay for services.” Treatment is subsidized by donations.

[1] https://www.indeed.com/cmp/Guest-House/reviews?fcountry=US&floc=Lake+Orion%2C+MI
[2] GoogleReviews
