The main site in Clarkston is one of 430 facilities in the state to offer <strong>standard outpatient programs</strong> and one of just <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/MI16.pdf" target="_blank">175 (36.5%)</a> to include <strong>intensive outpatient programs</strong> for individuals struggling with substance abuse. The Clarkston location offers services for individuals with <strong><a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/" target="_blank">co-occurring disorders</a></strong> as well, which only <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/MI16.pdf" target="_blank">46.6% (223 total)</a> of Michigan facilities do. Heron Ridge also works with community organizations, schools, and businesses to provide mental health education and communication training.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>Clients may participate in individual, <a href="https://www.recovery.org/pro/articles/the-pain-of-addiction-in-the-family-how-counseling-can-help/" target="_blank">family</a>, parent, or group consultations as a part of Heron Ridge substance abuse and addiction services. Treatment begins with a <strong>psychiatric evaluation</strong> and assessment of a client’s substance abuse history and current circumstances. The client then receives recommendations for a recovery plan and may continue at Heron Ridge through outpatient therapy.</p> <p>Individualized plans include dual diagnosis treatment and medication management when appropriate. Gender-specific groups meet at the Bingham Farms facility. Heron therapeutic practices are <strong>spiritually sensitive</strong> and counseling and recovery groups are offered for all ages, including <strong>children, adolescents, and adults</strong>. Substance abuse awareness classes for first-time offenders and driver’s license restoration services for residents of Michigan are also available.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>About a dozen staff therapists at the main Clarkston facility are listed on the facility’s website. <strong>All hold advanced degrees.</strong> The roster includes two board-certified psychiatrists, Ph.D.-level psychologists, and several Licensed Masters of Social Work.</p> <p>Those treating substance abuse disorders specialize in an array of subjects including codependency, intervention, <a href="https://www.recovery.org/pro/articles/reclaiming-the-feminine-in-recovery/" target="_blank">women with addictions</a>, court-ordered treatment, and driver’s license assessment.
