<p><strong>ABOUT KBIC SUBSTANCE ABUSE PROGRAMS</strong></p> <p>Located in the village of Barage in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Keweenaw Bay Indian Community (KBIC) Substance Abuse Programs, also known as New Day Programs, provide <strong>inpatient and outpatient treatment to adults and adolescents</strong> struggling with substance use disorder or <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/" target="_blank">co-occurring</a> mental health and chemical dependency problems.</p> <p>While KBIC <strong>specializes in treating Native Americans</strong> in the service area, the rehab also accept non-Native family members and descendants. In 2017, only <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/MI17.pdf" target="_blank">24 percent</a> of treatment facilities in Michigan provided special groups for clients who have experienced domestic violence.</p> <p>Outpatient-based programs are also offered and include a traditional outpatient program and an <strong>intensive outpatient program (IOP)</strong>, the latter of which is a modality available in <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/MI17.pdf" target="_blank">37 percent</a> of all Michigan treatment facilities. Both programs involve Native American-influenced counseling and educational sessions. </p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>KBIC Substance Abuse Programs are facilitated by certified substance abuse counselors in collaboration with <strong>cultural consultants</strong> who are familiar with local Native American practices and philosophies.</p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its living arrangements and related offerings.</p> <p><strong>WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY</strong></p> <p>The sole loved one polled by Rehabs.com to date, who participated anonymously, provided KBIC with mixed feedback. "Treatment effectiveness and accomodations were good," the loved one wrote. On the other hand, they gave more moderate three-star ratings to the facility for its cleanliness, its holistic offerings, its exercise and leisure activities, and its connectivity.</p> <p><strong>WHAT STAFF SAY</strong></p> <p>The one employee polled by Rehabs.com to date, a former certified addiction counselor, agreed that the facility's treatment of co-occurring disorders was solid and gave it a four out of five star rating.</p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>According to the facility's website, most KBI clients are eligible for funding through <strong>Medicaid</strong> (Block Grant), an Access To Recovery (ATR) program, supplemental disability assistance, or Indian Health Services (IHS).</p>
