Participants are guided through a 12-unit curriculum of life skills focused on either prevention or intervention. Goals of the program are centered around <strong>developing self-esteem, managing anger, improving decision-making</strong>, and communicating more effectively with family members, friends, and figures of authority. Other issues and topics addressed here are related to culture and diversity, violence and gangs, and the <strong>effects of drugs and alcohol</strong>.</p> <p>Participants also have regular opportunity for healthy and positive community interaction and receive <strong>assistance in job seeking, tutoring and mentoring support services, and financial planning</strong>. Bridging the Gap has three program wide objectives to it: <strong>participants complete the program, further their education, and do not re-offend</strong>. Successful students may have their offense removed from their record and learn about additional resources within their local community. According to the program’s website, a “Christian attitude” underlies all aspects of the program.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>Bridging the Gap is <strong>staffed by employees as well as volunteers</strong>.
