ABOUT CROSSROADS - BACK COVE WOMEN'S RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM AND RECOVERY CENTER

Founded in 1974 as a treatment center for women, Crossroads now offers substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorder counseling for men and women at a few locations in Maine. The Back Cove Women's Residential Program and Recovery Center is a residential facility serving women only from an attractive wood house a few blocks from Portland’s Back Cove, an inlet of the Atlantic Ocean. Detox is not available on site.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Crossroads - Back Cove Women’s Residential Program and Recovery Center is a traditional 30-day treatment facility. Treatment is gender-responsive in that it is tailored to meet the needs of women in recovery.

Treatment begins with an assessment with a licensed professional counselor. The treatment process combines 12-step programming, individual counseling, and group therapy. All counselors are able to provide trauma-informed care and support for any co-occurring mental health concerns. Family counseling is also provided and family involvement is encouraged throughout the recovery process.

Beyond these traditional treatment methods, the Back Cove program aims to provide holistic care through daily morning meditation, yoga, and group acupuncture. Weather permitting, equine therapy is offered once a week, and clients may also walk or run in the surrounding coastal scenery.

Crossroads employs outpatient clinicians who can either provide aftercare or help connect graduates of the residential program to outpatient care in their area. An alumni association enables graduates from nearby and farther away to keep in contact and stay accountable.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

According to the facility’s website, the team includes licensed, master’s level clinicians, social workers, and licensed alcohol and drug counselors.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Crossroads Back Cove has 12 beds for women and amenities, such as a yoga studio. Laundry supplies are provided by the facility. Electronic devices are not allowed during treatment, but smoking is permitted in designated areas. The single Rehabs.com reviewer gave five out of five stars for both accommodations and meals.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

At the time of this writing, one loved one submitted feedback to Rehabs.com about Crossroads.
