One of two VA Eastern Kansas Health Care locations, the facility in Topeka is <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/KS17.pdf" target="_blank">one of the 3 (1.6 percent) of Kansas treatment facilities</a> to offers inpatient services. It also offers <strong>intensive outpatient (IOP) programming, and <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/extended-recovery-programs/" target="_blank">aftercare</a></strong> to veterans who are struggling with substance abuse. </p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>Veterans seeking substance abuse treatment can participate in either Fresh Start, <strong>a four-week inpatient program</strong> that takes place in a secure hospital unit, or an intensive outpatient program (IOP) that’s typically completed in four to six weeks. </p> <p>Clients in inpatient treatment particiapte in <strong>assessment and daily group therapy sessions</strong>. The IOP meets, for a minimum of three days per week, three hours per day. The center is <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/KS17.pdf" target="_blank">one of the 62 (34.1 percent) of Kansas facilities</a> that offers programs specifically to individuals struggling with <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/" target="_blank">co-occurring disorders.</a></p> <p>Following treatment, clients can continue receiving support via <strong>ongoing group aftercare sessions</strong>. Admission into these programs is available at “at any time.”</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System's website notes the treatment team includes an <strong>addiction therapists and licensed master’s social worker (LMSW)</strong>.</p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>There is currently no information provided by the VA center regarding its living arrangements and related offerings. The loved one polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave one out of five stars for accommodations and amenities, along with meals and nutrition. </p> <p><strong>WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY</strong></p> <p>The loved one surveyed by Rehabs.com to date gave mixed feedback. While they gave five out of five stars when asked if they would recommend the VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System, they gave one star for treatment effectiveness. </p> <p>They also gave five stars for holistic offerings, counseling options, and its treatment of co-occurring disorders. “It was a wonderful place,” they added.</p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>The cost of treatment is not provided on this VA center’s website, although the center does accept (and encourage veterans to have) private health insurance.
