<p><strong>ABOUT MERIDIAN HEALTH SERVICES</strong></p> <p>Meridian Health Services is a <strong>publicly funded behavioral health organization that provides medical, psychiatric, and behavioral health services</strong>, as well as foster care services, skills training, and supportive independent living for adults across more than two dozen facilities in Indiana. Established more than 35 years ago, Meridian Health Services holds both accreditation with the Joint Commission and certification with the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addictions.</p> <p><a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/IN17.pdf" target="_blank">One of 179 (58.7 percent) nonprofit facilities in the state of Indiana</a>, Meridian Health Services’ in Muncie is home to the organization’s main office and Suzanne Gresham Center, offering <strong>outpatient and home-based services for drug-addicted mothers and their affected newborn babies</strong> as well as for children and teens struggling with emotional and behavioral problems.</p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>Meridian Health Services considers itself a “progressive” healthcare organization. Its Muncie-based Suzanne Gresham Center uses uses a <a href="https://www.childwelfare.gov/topics/management/reform/soc/" target="_blank">Systems of Care</a> model, which involves <strong>careful coordination and support between schools, juvenile and state agencies and other sources</strong> to help children and their families thrive in the face of their particular challenges. By and large, treatment is designed to keep families together, or reunite them, though the organization also provides <strong>foster care placements</strong> where necessary.</p> <p>The Suzanne Gresham Center provides counseling services on an outpatient basis for individuals, groups, and entire families in need. In some cases, the center will meet and support children in their school and home environments.</p> <p>Another program option is the Community Alternative to Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facilities (CA-PRTF). Here, children, teens, and young adults between the ages of six and 20 receive <strong>intensive support for problematic substance use</strong>, also as an attempt to avoid residential treatment. There’s another intensive outpatient program (IOP) designed eclusively for teens,</p> <p>Amongst its initiatives for families and children in need of behavioral health support, the Suzanne Gresham Center has a <strong>dedicated outpatient program for mothers</strong> struggling with substance use and their affected babies. The Maternal Treatment Program strives to foster <strong>positive, long-term behavioral lifestyle changes</strong> for mothers in crisis.</p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>Meridian Health employs a large team of medical doctors and psychiatrists as well as licensed clinical social workers (LCSW), mental health and addictions counselors, and marriage and family therapists. It is accredited by the <a href="https://wwwdasis.samhsa.gov/webt/state_data/IN17.pdf" target="_blank">Joint Commission, one of 98 (about 32 percent) Indiana facilities to receive this licensing</a>. The individual polled by Rehabs.com on the matter gave Meridian Health five out of five stars for the staff’s level of training and experience.</p> <p><strong>WHAT ALUMNI SAY</strong></p> <p>The single alum polled by Rehabs.com to date shared details of a highly positive experience with Meridian Health Services. “Very nice staff. I’ve been going here for eight years now and love it,” the anonymous alum wrote. They also gave five out of five stars in over a dozen evaluated treatment metrics, such as counseling options, treatment effectiveness, family programming, and discharge planning.</p> <p>To date, <strong>secondary review sites yielded mixed feedback</strong>: a slightly above-average rating of 2.9 out of five stars based on 20 Google reviews, and a similarly high rating of 3.0 out of five stars from more than 100 Facebook users.<small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-1"><sup>[1]</sup></a></small><small class="footnote"><a target="_blank" href="#footnote-2"><sup>[2]</sup></a></small></p> <p>Reviewers disappointed with Meridian told of a <strong>rude and unprofessional staff, disorganization, and administrative problems</strong>. “The front staff are rude and unprofessional. Shrugging your shoulder at a patient for your offices mistake is ridiculous,” wrote L.J. in a representative statement on Google.</p> <p>Others, however, maintained that they had <strong>received good care at the facility</strong>. "They have a MASSIVE amount of clients and a long wait list of people who are trying to become clients because they are such a low-cost place,” wrote one Google reviewer in response to the abovementioned complaints.</p> <p><strong>WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY</strong></p> <p>The single loved one polled by Rehabs.com to date would not recommend Meridian Health Services in Muncie, indicating that treatment did not benefit their loved one. They gave only one out of five stars for the center’s counseling, staff support, and addiction and mental health treatment.</p> <p><strong>FINANCING</strong></p> <p>Meridian accepts <strong>Medicaid and Medicare</strong> amongst other health insurance plans.
