Editorial Review

ABOUT WOMEN IN TRANSITION

Located in northeastern Indiana, about 45 miles north of Fort Wayne, Women in Transition (WIT) provides residential treatment to adult women struggling with substance use disorder. It's one of 125 treatment facilities in Indiana (41 percent of all treatment facilities in the state) to offer programming tailored to women.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

All clients must be medically stable and at least 72 hours sober to be admitted into the program. Treatment is long-term, and according to the program’s application, most women stay between nine months and two years. In 2017, only 8.5 percent of non-hospital-based treatment facilities in Indiana offered residential programming that lasted longer than 30 days.

Treatment is 12-step based, and women are required to attend Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and/or Narcotics Anonymous (NA) daily, as well as obtain a sponsor. Clients must also attend regular house meetings, follow a structured program of classes, and find employment while in the program.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Although there is no information available regarding staff credentials, the one alum surveyed by Rehabs.com gave WIT four out of five stars for its staff's level of training and experience.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

WIT offers women an intimate treatment environment by accepting just 20 women at a time. Throughout their stay, residents are expected to complete assigned chores and adhere to house rules, curfew, and other structured guidelines.
Cell phones are not allowed during the first 30 days of treatment.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The one alum polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing, an anonymous female between the ages of 40 and 59, gave WIT a highly positive review. She awarded the facility four or five out of five stars for its cleanliness, its counseling options, its exercise and leisure activities, its family participation, and its administrative and discharge procedures. When asked, on a scale from one to five, if she would recommend the facility, the alum gave a rating of four.

WIT also earned three five-star ratings on Google[1], along with a five-star rating based on the opinions of 27 individuals on Facebook, which the facility may monitor[2]. Former clients across both sites described the rehab as a caring and effective treatment program. "I am very grateful for the opportunity to have been apart of the WIT house," wrote Katie in a representative review on Facebook. "I love the person I am becoming."

FINANCING

WIT's application notes that all clients must pay a deposit of $270 upon admission. This fee includes a $5.00 monthly phone bill, the first two weeks of rent, and a $12.00 drug test fee. After that, clients must pay a weekly fee of $125. WIT also receives financial support from individual contributions.

[1] GoogleReviews
[2] https://www.facebook.com/pg/WITangola/reviews/?ref=page_internal
