<p><strong>ABOUT PALOS HEALTH - BEHAVIORAL HEALTH IN PALOS HEIGHTS, IL</strong></p> <p>Palos Health, located in Palos Heights, Ill., offers <strong>inpatient and outpatient treatment to individuals struggling with substance abuse, addiction, mental health disorders, and <a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/dual-diagnosis-recovery/" target="_blank">dual diagnoses</a></strong>. This facility operates as a department of Palos Health hospital, which is part of a nonprofit integrated healthcare system that operates six facilities in Chicago's south suburbs. </p> <p><strong>TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT</strong></p> <p>To be admitted, clients may call the facility during office hours to schedule a free, confidential assessment. Clients in crisis may call the Palos Health 24-hour hotline or appear in person at the hospital’s emergency room. In addition to treating mental health disorders and substance abuse, Palos Health also has behavioral addiction treatment for individuals who struggle with excessive shopping, gambling, or exercise as well as specialized marriage and family therapy programs.</p> <p>The facility’s chemical dependency treatment program uses the <strong>12-Step method</strong> of recovery as well as other <strong>evidence-based therapies</strong>. Throughout treatment, clients receive <strong>individual psychotherapy, group therapy, medication evaluation, occupational therapy</strong>, coping skills education, and medication if necessary. Palos Health offers unique treatments and therapy including a sensory room. Family involvement in treatment is strongly encouraged. </p> <p><a href="http://www.recovery.org/topics/extended-recovery-programs/" target="_blank">Aftercare</a> is available for all clients who successfully complete the program. Alumni are eligible to participate in a six-week aftercare group to reinforce skills learned throughout treatment. </p> <p><strong>STAFF CREDENTIALS</strong></p> <p>The treatment team at Palos Health includes medical doctors, psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, occupational therapists and social workers.</p> <p><strong>ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES</strong></p> <p>There is currently limited information provided by Palos Health regarding its living arrangements and related offerings. Alum E.M., who gave one star, said she was kept in the emergency room with suicidal thoughts for 13 hours before being transferred to a behavioral health specialist. She wrote, “Extremely slow service, bad food, rude staff oh god this hospital is awful.” Another reviewer disagreed, speaking highly of the hospital staff overall.
