Editorial Review

ABOUT ROCK ISLAND COUNTY COUNCIL ON ADDICTIONS (RICCA)

Spread across five acres in the Illinois countryside, Rock Island County Council on Addictions (RICCA) has served its surrounding community for more than 50 years. RICCA’s three-building complex offers outpatient treatment and extended residential care for adolescents and adults struggling with substance abuse, as well as anger management and DUI classes. Admission priority is granted to pregnant women and IV drug users.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Outpatient programming is much the same for adults and adolescents, with both intensive or non-intensive care on offer, and featuring individual, group, and family counseling. Length of stay varies based on individual needs, and treatment follows a standard 12-step approach. Those at risk of relapse after completing outpatient treatment may take advantage of RICCA’s continuing care services, accessible to anyone who has completed a primary treatment program, either in or out of state.

Residential clients can come and go as they please during the day, but are required to get jobs, pay rent (which includes the cost of treatment), and take part in daily chores.

The facility also offers DUI evaluations, risk education classes, an eight-week anger management program for adults and adolescents, and prevention services.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

There is currently no information provided on the facility's website or otherwise regarding its treatment staff.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

The three buildings each serve different purposes. The Administration Building houses administrative staff, outpatient programming, anger management classes, intake evaluations, and DUI classes; the Carl Stutsman Lodge is home to the extended residential care program for men and women; and the Margaret Stutsman Lodge houses the prevention and adolescent programs.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Marcey, the sole alum polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing, gave the facility five out of five stars for its treatment effectiveness. She gave low one-star ratings for exercise and leisure provisions and holistic treatment offerings, but high four-star ratings for the connectivity/visitor policy, facility cleanliness, and the staff's level of training and experience.

When asked, on a scale from one to five, if she would recommend treatment at RICCA to others, she gave a perfect five-star recommendation.

She acknowledged that RICCA was her last option, and wrote: “RICCA offered a longer term solution to my drinking, and that’s exactly what I needed… This facility is a no nonsense approach to recovery. YOU have to want recovery & actively participate in your rehabilitation.”

On Google, three reviewers each awarded RICCA five-star ratings. [1] Nawasa’s comment revealed gratitude to the facility, noting how she grew into a woman and became clean and sober, and even began working there as a cook because of their program and care.

WHAT STAFF SAY

One employee chimed in, telling Rehabs.com that despite being expensive, counselors were kind and not judgmental.

FINANCING

There is currently no information provided on the facility's website or otherwise regarding its costs.

[1] https://www.google.com/#q=ROCK+ISLAND+COUNTY+COUNCIL&lrd=0x87e23baf0b659e31:0x8a326b83f01ba78f,1
